Because of the altitude and the cold weather there is a very interesting diversity of plants and trees, there are a lot of small trees, cacti and rocks. Some parts of the plains has no vegetation only shrubs and graze while others look like if they were designed by a Zen gardener. The place is really amazing.
Someone told me that in clear days from this viewpoint you can see both oceans (Pacific and Atlantic), well i´m not shure of that because when i went there it was very foggy, but otherwise we had great views of the Chiantla Valley.
There are some interesting villages to visit: Todos Los Santos, San Miguel Acatan, Soloma. They are specially appealing because of their authenticity, most of the towns are among the most trational in Guatemala. But remember that this area is very remote and transport can be hard to find.
In such remote and cold place the best nightlife is drinking some wines at the terrace of your room with your friends surrounded by silence...We were tasting Francis Coppola`s "Zinfandel".
