If you are on the southern shore of Haiti you must visit the beaches. Although I have yet to visit any other Caribbean countries, the beach of Ti Mouillage was amazing and it looked like many pictures of beaches I have seen in Cuba and DR. A very short drive east of Jacmel, this beach was of a significant length and to stroll for a walk provided a great opportunity to meet some locals and play some intense soccer! The sand was beautiful and the waves made for some great fun.

Cyvadier Hotel, Cayes Jacmel

marcoparco Says:  I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. 6 of our team members got royal treatment and lucked out by getting the rooms with a balcony and ocean front view. The rooms were clean, water and electricity was reliable! They even provided internet at the front desk for...

I was able to go on a day hiking tour with our tour guides. Heading east from Hotel Cyvadier you will have to take a left at a place called Ravine-Normande to head inland . After turning left the road becomes quickly unfit for anything other then 4x4. You can proceed a few miles up the road until it becomes unfit for even our Land Rover! Time to get on the hiking sneakers. Depending on the pace of your group, the trek can last from 2-5 hours. It is not very technical although there are a few tricky spots along the trail. At the top of the small mountain you will have a breathtaking view of the bay of Cayes Jacmel. You proceed down to l'Etang Bossier where we even ventured further and treked around l'Etang. the trek offers a great view of some of the very rare spots where there is still beautiful greenery. Also walking by rural locals homes and chatting with them was a real treat. All in all it was a great day and wish it could have lasted longer.
Our tour guide informed us that he really hadn't taken many people for this hiking tour. It was great to be part of such a unique opportunity.
