Rosalila
Buried under the pyramids of Copan, archaeologists have found whole temples covered up. They were so well preserved that the original stucco finish on the outside was intact, with the color as well. The Rosalila is one such relic, and has been reconstructed in its entirety, life-size, in the main museum at the ruin site. You cannot as of yet walk inside, but to see the detailed design work and inscriptions on the sides gives you an idea of the construction of the Mayan people.

The ballcourt of Copan is wonderfully preserved. The slanted sides of the court, the parrot-styled rings on each side which served as targets to the players. The "locker room" is also behind the main structure, allowing you a complete perception of the game and how it was played. You can even hike behind it, up to the seat where the royalty sat and watched the drama unfold.

    Copán
The dry season was very hot and dry as you can see in this view at the top of the pyramid.

    The Staircase

This is another view of the staircase with another statue in front of it. The statue is of another of the kings. The shorter statue in the front of the king is in fact an altar. Probably used for sacrificial ceremonies which were quite common in the Mayan culture.

    Copan, Structure 22a
Walking from the Temple of Meditation westbound in the direction of Temple 11 is at the righthand side a former governmental building, structure 22a. This building is distinguished by its interlocking weave-like brick patterns.
