If you are in San Pedro Sula, this restaurant is a must visit. This restaurant has excellent ceviche. The shrimp ceviche is red and the fish is white- both excellent.
The meat is the specailty here. I can highly recommend any of the steak dishes. The Steak Pimienta and Filet is probably the best I have ever had.
You can choose either indoor air-conditioned dining or outdoor fresh air dining. The owner is very gracious and will usually sits down and chats with us. Pricies are very reasonable by U.S. standards.

Favorite Dish: The Filet Mignon is excellent but my favorite is Steak Pimienta- possibly the best wine sauce I have ever had. Every meal is preceeded by an excellent broth appetizer.
You have to try the shrimp coctail- to me it is more of a shrimp ceviche but it is awesome.
I can't believe that Pat's Steakhouse has not been mentioned yet!?! I am confident that as soon as experience this local favorite you will be posting more great reviews for this restaurant. I read in Frommer’s that it is one of the longest family owned restaurants in Central America. One sign of a truly great restaurant is its ability to put out a consistent product over years or decades. I have dined at Pat’s Steakhouse a myriad of times while staying in San Pedro Sula and I have yet to be disappointed. The food, atmosphere, and service are what one would expect from a culinary legacy in Europe or the States. The second sign; find out where the locals go for authentic fine dining. The concierges over the years have always directed our group to this restaurant giving it high marks for their fresh coastal seafood, salads and special cuts. Their French onion soup is out of this world!
Flan, don’t leave until you finish off your feast with one of these desserts. You will be kicking yourself if you don’t experience this indulgence. I cannot recommend this establishment enough. One tip to remember: be sure to get there in plenty of time as it fills up fast!

Unfortunately Mangosteen has closed its doors as of December 2008. It was a nice restaurant but like many its target demographic was not large enough to support it. Original review follows:
San Pedro Sula finally has a Thai restaurant. Mangosteen provides a relaxing atmosphere with delicious Thai fare. It has a lovely outdoor dining area and bar amongst large tripical trees. I really enjoyed sitting on the plush furniture outside on a relatively cool Honduran evening and enjoying nice cold Salva Vida (one of the local beers) and munching on some excellent coconut shrimp, curried beef and an awesome pork dish served on square plates. Portions are right-sized (not too much and not too little) and the flavors are well balanced.
The food and atmosphere are unequaled in San Pedro Sula. Bring an appetite and a large wallet as the food is pricier than most other restraunts in the area but the setting makes it worth you while and if you have a longing for Thai food this is the only place to get in in San Pedro Sula.

For me this is another must-visit restaurante when in San Pedro Sula. I visit every trip to the city.
If you like authentic Italian this is the place to go. The owner is purely Italian and most definitely an exceptional chef. This is basically a house with a few tables inside and a very nice patio outside with tables and umbrellas. A good amount of what is on the menu is displayed fresh in a glass case. He always has at least five meat dishes available and several fresh vegetables as well. I always choose food from this and also order a pasta and sauce off the menu. The owner is kind enough to make available some fine wines and beers that you can't find anywhere else in Honduras.
The food is awesome! Try the carpaccio (sp?) for an appetizer! And if they have it in the glass case get the lobster and crab crepes.
Favorite Dish: Must trys include the lobster and crab crepes and the eggplant parmigan. They also have the best minstrone soup I have ever tasted.
Euphoria offers a unique indoor or outdoor tropical dining of local upscale Honduran food. The outside dining area is centered by a pool and it has a very open and air atmosphere. You can walk around the garden-like grounds and look at the collection of exotic birds.
The food is deliciously Honduran and very reasonably priced. Try the Pinchos Mixtos (shiskabobs) for a Honduran treat. The anafres are excellent as well.
Combine a great atmosphere with extremely tasty Italian dishes, throw in some great Chianti and you have Tre Fratelli. The food is always tasty and very reasonably prices. I recommend this place highly.
This place is the best Sushi available in San Pedro Sula. It is extremely authentic (you take your shoes off at the door and sit on the floor) and the sushi is extremely fresh and delightful. The only drawback to this place is the price. It is probably one of the most expensive restaurants in Honduras.
This original review was written long ago and I have not been back to the restaurant since. It might not be open anymore. I will search for it on my next trip to San Pedro Sula.

Although I have called Deriva a wine bar it is actually more of a restaurant than a wine bar because while they have the probably the largest wine selection in San Pedro Sula it isn't the same thing as what those of us from the USA consider a wine bar.
Most of the wines are Argentinian and some Chilean and US. The food is mostly Italian with a Honduran flair and very delicious.
Sushi Itto is a new sushi restaurant that brings a trendy atmosphere to sushi in San Pedro Sula. With water running down the outside wall to the sunken tables with funky chairs and the sliding bathroom doors this place screams contemporary Japanese dining.
The sushi and sashimi was fresh and tasty- not the best I have had but certainly good enough to enjoy with a Salva Vida or Imperial beer.
The service was prompt but not overbearing and the prices are reasonable.
Sorry, as of 2012 Bonsai is closed. Try either of the two Sushi Ito locations instead.
Bonsai is a place I visit frequently when I am in San Pedro Sula. The sushi is always fresh and I always eat vast amounts of it. This is a two-story restaurant with exceptional service. Try the Titanic sushi boat- it is enough to fill up any party of four with a delightful selection of different types of sushi and sashimi.
Bonsai is just a kick band and relaxing type place with good air conditioning, friendly staff and good sushi.
Lunch: M-F 11:45 am to 2:30 pm , Sat-Sun noon to 3:30
Dinner: Sun-Thu 5:30 to 9:45, Fri-Sat 6:00pm to 11:00 pm
I recently traveled to san pedro sula for work , I must confess the food was awesome. There wasn't an item that I tried at any local restaurant that I didn't go WOW that tasted great.
Looking forward to getting another round in this october.
This is a "fast food restaurant but with food cooked to local customs and standard. The chicken and the ribs are fantastic and the portions HUGE.
It has a huge menu (51 choices) and many choices for side dishes.
Its a family style restaurant but with lots of business people dropping in due to the great food.
Favorite Dish: Chicken.
I hate categories … I had to select on for Don Udo’s so I did, but even though the Italian specialties he prepares are numerous, there is an unmistakable flavor of Honduras in the place and in the menu.
I absolutely love this place! It is a Uruguyan Steak house that serves huge portions of meat. The meat has a destinctively better taste that what I am used to in the U.S.
If you love beef you absolutely have to try this place. The owner is most kind and gracious and will make you feel right at home!
Favorite Dish: Try the ceviche and any beef dish !
