 | Isla de Roatán Packing Lists | Tips 1 - 5 of 5 | | Popular Packing Lists | Other Packing Lists Tips | All Tips (5) Always bring some big zip lock bags for packing your wet stuff in and for keeping your dry stuff dry. Remember that there is a rainy season here from October to December and things do get wet in the suitcases.
Shorts and sandals and if you are there during the rainy season the bring some wet weather gear or a poncho.
When traveling around anyplace that has mosquitoes and other biting insects like sand flies it is best to arm yourself to the teeth with bug guards of some sort. Skin so Soft is sold by Avon and works real well to keep the little buggers from biting you and Cactus Juice works as well. Cactus Juice can be purchased online at www.cactusjuicetm.com or you can find it on the island in the local shops. Cactus Juice also sells an “after the fact” cream that will take the itch away and sooth the sunburn as well.
Bring a good underwater camera for those underwater shots and a good digital camera for the sunsets. Leave a Comment

Make sure you have at least three days of clothing and essential toiletries for at least 3 days. Losing baggage seems to be TACA's expertise.
Clothing is casual shorts, tee-shirts and sandals is accepted everywhere. A wide brimed hat is most usefull in the day time.
You should pack all you need in your carry-on bag, just in case...
Also batteries, charger, films, memory cards should be in your carry-on bag. I was really regretful when my rechargeable digital camera battery died on the second day, my chager was somewhere in TACA land.
When you leave your car at the aiport parking do not put your car/home keys in your suitcase, you may never see them again. That would be a very difficult holiday return/. Leave a Comment

If you can go without checking your bags it'll be a big relief when you're leaving Roatan. Those checking bags had to wait in line over 45 mins to do so.
Deck shoes - light weight, waterproof, slipper type shoes. Good for getting on and off the dive boat and before you put your fins on.
Band Aids. Neosporin. Hydrocortisone. DEET mosquito repellant. Sudafed, Nasonex, Ibuprophen (all to help clear you out for equalizing your ears when diving). Motion sickness tablets if you may suffer on a dive boat. Not that we needed it, but I always recommend traveling with a 5 day course of Cipromyicin in case you get one of those stomach thingies taking up residence inside you. SPF 30 sunblock.
Underwater housing for your camera.
You'll need $35 departure tax on hand for when you leave Roatan. Leave a Comment

Watershoes are great. Some of the areas are rockier than others and if you want something comfortable but good for the water this is a must.
An underwater camera. The snorkeling and diving sites available are unreal. You will regret it if you forget, or end up paying 3x as much at a local store.
Snorkeling equipment! It is available to rent near many beaches, but its a great way to save money.
Make sure to bring bug spray if you will be in the rainforest type areas. The beaches vary.
