Mavies & Dixies : simply the best restaurant in West End (next to Lighthouse, just around the corner of the Church on Main Road). Enjoy the terrace with seaview. Very friendly atmosphere, succulent local dishes, honnest prices.
Specialties are super fresh seafood (they go fishing themselves) eg. lobster, crab, local fishes you might encounter whilst snorkling :-)
Ask for the coconut bread, freshly baked by mama who's a princess in the kitchen.
Try the special cocktails and enjoy the jokes made by the barman and the sexy waitress.
Avoid expensive restaurants such as Pura Vida Restaurant and the American owned Thai place next to Rudy's Place (can't remember the name, but they were severely overpriced, overspiced and simply aggressive towards non-American tourists!!! Be warned!!)
Go for local restaurants (Patricia's Place, Velva's Place, Mavies & Dixies)
Be careful : Roatan is not the USA : you are in no way obliged to pay for the 10 to 20% tip that is added on the bill by the American restaurant owners!! The taxes are legal (12% on foods) however. Locals will not put these tips on the bill, but if you have eaten well and if the service is good, tipping is the normal thing to do. So look for local restaurants and ask if there are extra taxes, they might not mention this on the menus.
Snorkling spots :
Take the water taxi from West End to West Bay, next to the 'black' rocks. You can rent good snorkling gear on the beach for 10$.
Or go sailing with 'Captain Dusty', he's knows where to go if you want to see some beautiful corals and fishes.
Enjoy
Favorite Dish: Seafood platter for 2 people @ 25$ (for the 2), with local fish, large shrimps, lobster ...
Good cocktails : 'Jamaica me go crazy' !!

Address: West End, next to Lighthouse restaurant
Dian’s Garden of Eat’n is located in the town of West-End which is on the north-west part of the island. People come from all over the world just to eat here and to meet with Dian.
The food is FANTASTIC and you will not find any place like this in the world, nor will you find anyone like Dian any place in the world.
When you go here (and it is a must) you need to say hello to Dian and check out her new furniture shop next door to the restaurant.
Favorite Dish: The shrimp and just about anything on the menu.

The Eagle Ray Bar and Grill sits over the water in WestBay cove and serves up some very good food and drinks. The prices are very reasonable and you can not beat the view durring the afternoon hours.

This is one of the new places on the beach and it is one of the better bars with a great layout and view of the beach. The food was not so good but the beer makes up for it.
