If you are staying in the West end or in West Bay beach area you really do not need a car and the taxis are just at the end of the street if you feel you must get out and about. I you do want to rent a car you can get a small on for around $60 to 70 a day with all the insurance and tax.
I think you are better just taking the collective or a taxi for those shopping trips or for that trip to Coxen Hole.
