This little cutie is the daughter of the French couple who run the bakery. She and her brother were free as birds and on this their summer vacation had the run of the town.

Roatan FriendsOne of the cool things about the West End is that it is like small town. After walking up and down this one pot-holed dirt road for 2 and a half weeks you meet the same people, get to talking with them and then hanging out with them. Let me introduce my Roatan friends; some locals, some transplants and other are fellow travelors. This is Jose, a 14 year old Honduran boy originally from Tikal who was taken from his home and apprenticing to be a street vendor. Our friend Ron befriended him and before he went home Ron gave Jose his digital watch</font.

Be polite. Say a few words in Spanish. Start with 'Hola'. Don't flash your money around. Talk about your home if you live in Canada for example, they might have realtives there. Hand out flags or pins of your home country to new friends. Take some tolietries with you and some pharmacy items as Immodium because finding what you need when you need it might be hard.

Some Mayan artisan must have had a lot of fun with this stone 'marker.' It looks a bit like a cartoon character.

Napkin wrapped around your beer

The napkin is there for a reason, not just good presentation. Please do yourself a favor and wipe the bottle top. Some of the nasty things I've wiped off the top of the bottle defy description.

cheek kissing

by dawnpaz2000

women usually kiss one cheek for a friendly hello goodbye and both cheeks if your really good friends. Men always shake hands for hello and goodbyes.
