Try Utila (pictured here) Instead by epicult A beaut of a place, but it suffers very much in the same way Jamaica does. I had planned for a week, but left after 3 days and actually couldn't wait to leave. Too many tourists (loads of obnoxious ones) and very expensive.
Climb back into a cab, roll up into a ball and head back to the airport for a direct flight to Florida... no seriously though... grab a six pack of beer and check out the beaches, they're very lovely.
. Top 5 Reasons to Choose Utila Over Roatan: 5. much more laid back 4. better food 3. same diving opportunties 2. MUCH MUCH cheaper 1. No obnoxious, 5-star, 'weekend warrior' travelers Leave a Comment

At the local mall and in the streets there are a fewĻ^gringos^ who work the area. They look American and come up to you with a line something like, ^I was robbed^ The man who almost conned me said he was robbed in Tela and needed money to get to the American Embassy in Tegucigalpa. I almost gave him money to help him get a taxi when another man appeared telling me he indeed was a con man.
Simply walk away. You think and feel you want to help, but remember, any American or other tourist wouldnīt ask another for money.
Walk away. Donīt get sucked into feeling bad for them. The police station, Red Cross, and other organizations here can help them. Leave a Comment

Central Square - Copan by kiwigal_1 In Copan beware of young children swarming around the entrance to Copan and in the town of Santa Rosa de Copan. These children are capable of ripping off unsuspecting tourists. I bought a few things off them because I wanted them but please don't be tempted to give them extra cash or to buy something out of pity as they are often 'run' by adults who take all the money off them. Give them food perhaps. This picture is of the Central Square in Santa Rosa de Copan. For more pictures of Copan please see my new Copan page! Leave a Comment

by slawekjb Tegucigalpa, capital city is located in a valley at 3000 ft making its climate ideal. Getting around is a little confusing but fun. Boulevard Morazan is the commercial heart of Tegus, but also known as ' la zona viva' with nice clubs. Try to aviod 'cheap' rooms downtown. For same money you can rent a hotel room. In picture, cathedral built between 1765 and 1782. Leave a Comment

Just know there are dishonest people everywhere. Use as much common sense as the almighty gave you.

Unless you want to share West Bay Beach with 3,000 visitors from cruise ships and the mainland, do not go to Roatan Island the week prior to Easter.
