by ONELOVEFL

I have been to Negril, Robins ay, and Ocho Rios. I love Ochi and will be going back again in August. I met Livingstone Harrison who has a nice little restaraunt and bar next to Sandals in Ocho Rios. The nicest people frequent this place across from the Hard Rock Cafe.

Talk to the Jamaicans! They are all really nice and friendly. Once they get to know your face they will always have time to stop & chat!! Bloody Bay beach in Negril - it was shared by only 3 big hotels, Riu; Couples & Grand Lido and there was always plenty of room. It has the most whitest sand, the most bluest seas...it's heaven

Get away from the touristy areas and meet the people. Go inland, up in the hills and explore a little. Every summer, I would leave the city (Kingston) and head to Cave Valley and Aenon Town where my grandparents lived and worked (they were shopkeepers). It was always an adventure - in those days, they had no electricity and their house was a grand old house (unfortunately, the pic shows it as it looks today - in much need of work). We would spend hours on end exploring the countryside, bathing in the river, having a bush cooking, or doing a million other things that I'll never forget. It's a sleepy little town and if you blink you'll miss it but I'll never forget my summers in Aenon Town.

Hire a car and travel around the island. The Island has so much more to it than you will see in the commercial tourist resorts. Arranged tours are okay, but you don't get a chance to see real Jamaica. You can never say that you have been to Jamaica if you have sat on an air-conditioned bus and experienced it from there. Christmas Eve. Jamaicans know how to have fun!

Although I was told prior to my trip to Jamaica, that this was not a good place to vacation, I decided to go anyway, and I have no regrets at all!! My Wedding Day of course....The weather was beautiful and hot, and everything went extremely well...We were married at 545pm, on July 15th 1994....Everything from the wedding ceremony to the small reception/dinner was great!! We were married in a gazebo overlooking the ocean, with resort guestS along with my family watching and listening to us commit ourselves to each other!! My husband being the comedian he is, added a little humor to the ceremony, and all went well!

Climb Dunn's River Falls! The falls are cold but once you get in, it's ok. You will need water shoes, those aqua socks work the best. You can rent them at the falls but their funny looking, looks like a camel toe (haha). I used my dive boots and they had great traction. You are climbing the falls, literally! A guide is assigned to your group, ours called himself the Ranger, like Texas Ranger (Chuck Norris) and he was wonderful! It's difficult to take video's or pictures because your in a bathing suit and in the water. We had a waterproof bag which worked well but if you need to Ranger had about 10 camera's hanging around his neck to take pictures for you! There is also a guy climbing with a video, you can purchase it for $30 and it was worth the money! I loved the climb except for the fact they make you get in a line and hold hands. This means that while your climbing you are holding on...

You have to sightseen all the small villages around cities like Ocho Rios or Kingston Town: that' s the real Jamaica! I met a taxidriver, whose name is NICKY (the best taxi driver of all!). He took me to Bob Marley' s grave from Ocho Rios. I saw the real Jamaica: people stroling down the streets, people sleeping on the sofa, people waiting for something...And then nature. Nature is capturing you, its green and fresh colour, trees, leaves, and then water and...you should experience that!!

see the burial site of Bob Marley. It's approximately a 3 hour drive from Mo bay and is deep in the hills. My fondest memory is drinking red stripe with our friends at the Country Club which is close to Falmouth, Trelawny.
