~ Dancehall/Street Party ~: ~ Jamaican Street Parties ~

by Heavens-Mirror

Whilst in Jamaica i wanted to see the real Jamaica and how the locals like to really party at night. So one night some Jamaican friends i met took me & my Auntie out to a local street party. The party was rammed with loads of people, loads of booze and of course clouds of ganja smoke and lots of loud music and everyone was enjoying themselves. The speakers were as big as houses blasting out Sean Paul, Sizla and anything else you could think of... so you could imagine how loud the music was.It was great to experience some real culture and watch people dancing to the Reggae all night. Even children were there dancing away and they were pretty good dancers too.Drinks were really cheap, bottles of Red Stripe was only 1 US Dollar and you could get 7 bottles of Heineken in a bucket for only 10 US Dollars. At the end of the night you could buy yourself some jerk chicken, rice & peas and red pea...

Hotel in Montego Bay: Nighttime at the compound

by SueKey

Funny, watching all the tourist get into the drinking all-inclusive resort fun... We noticed most people came to the hotel compound and never left. We sat in a few nights and listened to live carribean bands and acts. casual

-----: Spring break if you want action

by Ariannrhod

It's all about the timing-their was not alot of people while were there-and not alot of action during the night-everyone told us it was because Spring break is the time to come for parties-but since we started partying around 10am we were not too inclined towards going out at night- hahahaha!

Margaritaville- Ocho Rios: Jimmy Buffett strikes again

by HotSpotJ

This is my favorite Margaritaville yet. When you are in another country, you want to visit places authentic to that country, but for whatever reason I walked over here for lunch and there goes my day. I was here for hours as they poured tasty rum down my throat. As cruise ships come in and out, girls would come in, you have some drinks, laugh and converse, they leave, and then the next ship comes in, and this continued into the evening. And the beach is right there at the bar. What else could you ask for? As long as nothing is hanging out they'll let you in!

Margaritaville at Montego Bay, Jamaica: Shake it like a salt shaker...

by tinabina00

During the day it's a fun place to spend with your family...it provides food and drink and not to mention a 110ft waterslide which winds its way from the roof above into the Caribbean below and the two giant water trampolines anchored just offshore. At night, the Ville swings to the sounds of the in-house DJ and partygoers strut their stuff on Karaoke, Latin and Pyjama Party theme nights.

Watchful eyes of the police

by Pawtuxet

The police were friendly and unobtrusive. But on one very dark night when my husband and another man were coming back from town, they encountered a road block...police with machine guns. Rather alarming. There must have been political unrest or some other event taking place which we were unaware of. The men were allowed to pass, but told to go to their villa and stay there.

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville: Awesome day or night!

by RyandT

The largest Jamaican Margaritaville, Margaritaville Ocho Rios, debuted in February 2002. Located on the beach at the Island Village entertainment and shopping complex, it quickly became a hit, especially with local party people and cruise ship passengers, who dock at the pier just steps away. Jimmy helped celebrate the opening in fine style with his first Jamaican concert performance ever, right there on the beach.Throughout the restaurant the décor is "rustic Caribbean", using sun-bleached colours and casual furniture. Downstairs, the ambience is beach-y and relaxed by day, urban and "nightclub-y" by night. Mosaic tile and wrought iron accents on the upper level lend an intimate and sophisticated Afro-Cuban feel to our Havana Day Dreamin' bar and lounge. Bathing suits by day, "tropical club" by night

Margerittaville Montego Bay: dancing, clubbing, tourists galore

by travelbugcheri

Big tourist trap! But okay music and lots of tourists. You'll be harrassed on your way in and out, but just ignore it. Good drinks, but expensive, you have to buy tokens first and then go to the bar for the drinks and pay with tokens. In the day they have a nice menu (expensive) and water sports and waterslide, you can use those for free. come as you are

The Brewery Montego Bay: clubbing, dancing,

by travelbugcheri

The Brewery is the place to go on Friday nights! Entry is 400 J , but it is worth it! Open air, lots of locals, great music (if you like hip hop and reggae) Drinks are expensive, but you can sneak in drinks bought from outside vendors, and go in and out and keep buying your drinks like that, just make sure the bouncer knows your leaving, so you don't have to pay again when you re enter The locals dress up, sexy but chic, it's okay to wear jeans, shorts, etc.
