Soud Systems

by ak47uk

There are plenty of partys going on day and night and there are some superb sound systems with ear shatering music. The system in the picture was set up for a locals birthday and there were another set of speaker on the other side.

by rachel_sun

Dress Code: dress casual for bars and smart for restaurants. Location: Kingston at the Marketplace, there is always something going on here. This is a shopping centre and the atmosphere is good and it is good for famulies. In Montego,The Cave is the most popular disco place to be at.Pier 1 in Montego Bay is great too.In Negril,Risky Business beachfront bar is one of my favs. They have a good restaurant and live music most nights. They do great drink offers too.

Nightlife in resort areas is wild, limbo, reggae

by rachel_sun

Nightlife in resort areas centres around reggae, limbo and fire-eating.You can eat out at the large towns and resorts or relax in a bar with a drink.Alot of bars have live music and tv's and great drinks offers. You can get two for one on certain nights.

We asked around everywhere to find out where the best reggae was and all the locals said Roots Bamboo. Roots Bamboo is actually a hotel with cottages and camping. They set up a stage on the beach and the reggae starts sometime after dark. The audience is about a 50-50 split between locals and tourists and the music is good! Come as you are.

Club Inferno and the nightspots in Kingston are a lot of fun! I recommend talking to the locals, particularly the ones at your hotel or resort as well as what the other tourists have learned in order to choose the right club on the right night. I have had some wild nights dancing the night away in clubs with no hassle, yet on a different night at the same club I have been harassed to the point where I had to leave. So find out beforehand what the scoop is.Reggae vibes, of course! You will be amazed by the girations and flexibility of the Jamaican people, and if you are lucky you may pick up a move or two. The club scene is not for the faint of heart! Dress to impress, but remember that you are in a scene that can get a bit wild. Make sure if you are a lady and are dressed for the clubs, that you have transportation to and from the clubs, so you don't have to walk the streets. Safety in...

Grande Lido had the usuall typical hotel entertainment like cabaretts and dancers at night. There is a disco. The Margarittaville was jumping at night. Its a fun pub with a good mix of music and drunken pub games thrown in. It is actually open all day and has sunloungers available for free. There is a bungee run and a massive trampoline out in the sea which is a good laugh, makes you feel like a big kid again!!! Its right on the beach and has different drinks promotions every night. Casual.

I'm not big on nightlife but all of the major resorts have floor shows of some kind or other and they usually have a nightclub too. The crowd at Maugeritteville in Montego Bay is kind of young but it's a fun place - day or night. It's right on the ocean and they have a gigantic sea trampoline with a slide running from the roof. Lots of fun if a bit touristy. Casual, casual, casual...

We went to Amnesia, in Ocho Rios, most nights because it was on the main strip but we discovered St. James Avenue on the last night. Full of good places to eat and drink until the early hours. The Little Pub is also a favourite with a lot of tourists but you won't find many locals in there - very overpriced. On Friday night, however, they do a deal of whatever you can eat and drink for about £14. Clubs are open until about 4 or 5, it just depends when the last person leaves!

Jamaica me crazy is a good night spot in Ocho Rios. It's part of the Jamaica Grande Hotel and night passes cost about $50. This gives you all you can drink and entry to the club.If you're in Negril, a night at Hedonism II is worth a go - but be prepared for nudity! The newly opened Hedonism III in Runaway Bay is just as good!

There are bars all along the beach and a few up on the cliffs. Da Bus has Reggae bands playing some nights on a stage right on the beach. Interesting, but the night we went, the reggae was a bit to heavy for my tastes. Also, be prepared to be assaulted by dope peddlers. It is illegal in Jamaica, but you'd have never known it that night, 'Hey Mon, Want to try the Bob Marley Mon'. I got at least 20 offers. A firm but polite 'No thanks' is usually all it takes. Everybody wasn't saying no though and it did get quite festive after a while. The Pickled Parrot and Rick's are up on the cliffs. The Pickled parrot has a slide and rope swings and places to jump off the cliffs. Rick's is a little more refined with an area to jump from the cliffs. You need to see the sunset from one of these places over dinner or drinks.
