Out and about

Almost everyone that lives in this area has white ancestors. It is said that a group of Scottish sailors were shipwrecked near here, last century.
I wouldn't bring this up as a custom except for the fact that this is probably the reason that the kids do not run out as you drive by saying Whitey!
They do this in other parts of Jamaica.

Every morning the women ride down from the hills to sell fresh fruit and vegetables, on their donkets. They are called donkey women. We saw them but I didn't want to be rude and stick a camera in their face.

Fishing boats

The fishermen in this area go out to sea early every morning and return at sunset with their catch. Each bay has its own fishermen's cooperative.

Basic School

The children at Sandy Bank Basic school are absolutely precious! Every time I return to Treasure Beach, I'm compelled to venture into all the schools.

Relax, mon!

Treasure Beach promised to be sleepy and relaxed, and it disappoint. Of course the sunsets were beautiful. We stayed at a small hotel called Mar Blue, run by a German couple.
