    Walking up a waterfall!

When you are in Jamaica you should go to Dunns River Falls. It is amazing and a lot of fun. I believe Ocho Rios is 1 (110 Km) hour from Montego bay, and you can get a trip package to and from this place. If you drive there yourself, I believe it said it was 10.00 US to get in. But if you go to the website listed below they have rates.

    APPLETON ESTATES

    by RACCOON1 Updated Sep 14, 2004

Rum is the big drink in Jamaica . A trip to Appelton Estates is a must even if you do not like rum. It is a bit of a tourist trap but still a must .

In Jamaica you drink rum based drinks at any time in the day and it seems like the right thing to do. The bartenders probably limit the amount of rum in each drink so do not worry.

    Landscapes!

The landscapes were so beautiful I could not stop taking photos, Terry said she was a camera widow. I felt bad but still could not stop taking photos of the water or anything for that matter. I had my laptop to down load the photo to so I could take as many as humanly possible. Take rechargable batteries and chargers so you won't run out, batteries are VERY EXPENSIVE here.

    Glass bottom boat rides!

by tpangelinan Updated May 31, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A must see in Montego Bay is a glass bottom boat ride around the reefs just off shore. You can set up to go scuba diving, snorkling or just sit in the boat and enjoy the ride, which ever makes you happy. The trip takes about 1 hour or so and is well worth the trip and lots of fun.

    Take a romantic carriage ride.

by tpangelinan Updated May 31, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We took a wonderful romantic carriage ride all through Montego Bay. The driver gave a great narration through the whole ride and answered any questions we had. He was so nice to take our camera and take a couple of good photos of us in the carriage with a nice back drop. Big points for that and stopping so I could take some photos of the sunset in a good spot! This all added to his tips! The whole trip took 1 1/2 hours for $30.00 and a $10.00 tip, well worth the price! The resorts were charging $45.00 for 30 minutes and giving very little to the driver, so we met him out side and set up a time and paid him directly so he got all the money for his efforts.

The sunsets in Montego Bay are just beautiful. They really make you stop and just soak it in, as the sun slowly sets over the caribbean waters. You must have your camera and lots of batteries for these sunsets! Got this one on a romantic carriage ride through Montego Bay, the driver stopped so I could take the photos, very nice of him, he got a good tip for that!

    "smile jamaica

by balieyes Written Jan 18, 2004

other recommended excursions in the area are: falmouth, an 18th century port town east of montego bay. a horseback ride at good hope plantation. a rafting trip down the great river or the martha brae,.. the list is almost endless
this is what montego bay is all about: vacation! thanks to its unique location and to the friendship of its people, jamaica is the perfect place to spend a holiday. whether you want to lie on the beach or practice some activities, montego bay has an offer for each vacationer. the area has some excellent golf courses. most of the upscale resorts have tennis courts, swimming pools and gymnasiums. and if you want to party, the offer is also varied. most of the times you will not even have to leave your hotel to find everything you want. need to buy anything? go to the shop. need to eat? go to the one of the restaurants. wanna swim? go to the private beach. wanna have fun? go to the disco. one week here will definitely recharge your batteries. the only problem is that you will not want to come back home.

on the way to downtown montego bay i found this very special event, an evangelist baptism. jamaicans are known for their religiosity. sundays is a holy day. most jamaicans put on their best clothes this day, and go to church. masses, as everything else in jamaica, are quite different here. if you have the chance, you should visit one of these ceremonies. if you want, you can take a look at an evangelist ceremony i attended in ocho rios

    Snorkelling in Mo'Bay

by lolitajane Written Oct 28, 2003

%The weather wasn't what we would call "nice". It was rainy and cloudy, but we were on good mood, and that was enough to have a lot of fun in the Wet ‘n Wild Suncat...
Snorkelling is a wonderful experience, better if you try at the Caribbean Sea. The water was warm despite the nasty weather, and we could see a lot of colourful fish and a small coral reef

Half Moon Shopping Village Rose Hall

by Raslady Updated May 4, 2003

This is one of many beautiful buildings on the whole Rose Hall complex, which includes the Hotel.
This band stand is at the end of the shops.
At the other end just inside the entrance, is a cafe bar, where you can sit and relax after your walk round the shops. The icecream is very good and the coffee wonderful, must have been Blue Mountain!

    One of many lovely structures.

    Bob Marley Experience and Theatre

by Raslady Written May 4, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I went to Half Moon shopping village in 2001, so it could have changed since then (let me know if you go there)
I was a little disappointed with the experience as it was just a small shop, but it was full of Marley memorabilia, and I was told the filmed documentary (in the 68 seat, air conditioned theatre) was very good; but unfortunately we spent too long looking in the other shops and at the beautiful buildings, that we didn't have time to see it as our bus arrived to collect us.

The shops are set either side of this beautiful walkway, and their goods are quite expensive, but it is a lovely place to visit.

Negril, negril!!!! Go to the Rick's Cafe in Negril. Try to visit the inside of Jamaica, the tropical forests, the crocodiles and most of it: The real native people, groups of people that no one have ever met!! You can take a risk by going to Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, this huge city is popular for its crime, not the great beaches. I would suggest you to visit Montego Bay for a couple of days and after that, head for the smalls city's.

A tour to Negril is a great adventure. First, there is a great beach with every activity you're looking for. They make and sells nice hats of green palm leaves. But ther is no doubt that the main event is the sun plunging into the ocean from the terrasse of Rick's Cafe while your sipping a rum punch and takink a dive from the rocks into a deep cristal water just under your feet.
It is the unique place in the country to observe the sundown!
