Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: This is a rural area, so "dressy" clothes aren't necessary. Lightweight, loose-fitting, and comfortable are the keys to being at ease. Ladies might want to bring a skirt if a trip to Sav-la-Mar or church service is on your schedule. Flip-flops or sandals are sufficient for most occasions; a pair of water-shoes and walking/running shoes for "off road" adventures. Once you adapt, evening breezes can feel cool, a light windbreaker, long sleeve shirt, or wrap takes the "chill" off. Fitted clothing is OK ... tight or revealing clothes are not.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Sunblock. Sunblock. Sunblock. SPF 35. Even if you have darker skin, unless you live in a similar climate, YOU WILL BURN. Insect repellent is recommended. The area is generally dry, but after a rain the mosquitoes will be looking for you.
