Dunn's River Falls

by mwenn2100

This is very touristy (obviously) but don't miss your chance to climb the falls. I was extremely proud of myself that I didn't give up and went all th way to the top! Upon entering the parking lot, you have to climb all the way down to the beach in order to climb all the way back up. Along the winding climb down you will encounter the ticketing booth and a Jamaican Market. To get into the market, climb the falls or even see them you will have to get a ticket. We didn't venture into the market because we ran out of time, but our guide made it VERY clear to us that the vendors tend to be pushy, but if you firmly say no they and walk away they will leave you alone. After you get to the bottom, you can play on the beach and look at the bottom of the falls. There were a lot of families down on the beach that obviously were not going to climb the falls, so maybe it's important to note that you...

Blue Mountains

by iam1wthee

They are simply captivating. It twists and turns into the beautiful countryside where there are more friendly laid back people. It has inspired and is included in many reggae songs. Many narrow winding roads going up and down the mountain. It can be a little scary when big trucks are comming in the opposite direction but it is fun.

Bob Marley House Museum

by iam1wthee

The last house that he bought before he died near Kingston Jamaica was inspiring. I could feel the history coming from the walls. If only the walls could talk. The guide was very amusing and informative. I thought I knew everything there was to know but discovered new things. Don't skip this tour.

swimming in pools in Reach Falls

by suziherbert

Reach falls is a real gem of a place, really quiet with only a few tourists around. You walk up ythrough several pools and waterfalls, pausing to swim in each one, some are deep blue and are really cold, there are shallow ones where you can see the fish swimming with you. You can dive into some deeper pools and also swim down underwater through holes on the rock, and appear some place further down the pools. A really good guide is Renee a really honest and friendly man, he took such good care of us and really made the trip. You can access Reach Falls though Muirton Pen (just along the Bay from Long Bay and he can be reached when staying at the Zion Country beach Cabins.)

Sunset Beach

This place was greatyou pay like $12? and get access to the entire resort meaning free food and drinkswater park sidethe pretty beach + kayaks and things of that sortvery good value and they were still building when I wentthat was a year ago so I'm sure its done by now overall good food, service, and fun.

Diversions

by DJMist

A stay at Sandals includes access to tennis courts, basketball courts, squash, volleyball, and all of the equipment needed, snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, shuffleboard, card games, table tennis, billiards, and more. I tried to do almost everything and had a great time. Facilities were always well maintained and the equipment was almost always new and in good condition.

Rafting on the Martha Brae River

by KingSeany

If Jamaica is not relaxing enough, really chill with a leisurely float down the Martha Brae river. Clamber aboard a sturdy 30ft long hand made bamboo raft and take in the tranquil countryside. At times you can't hear anything, which is just perfect. The "driver" probably made the raft himself, and maybe will offer you another of his creations. The trip will last just over an hour, and is reasobably priced. You'll normally get here as part of an organised pickup, but you can arrive at your own pace too. We arrived by Limo!

Black River Safari

by KingSeany

If crocodiles are your thing, take a trip up the Black River, you'll get right up close with them. Close enough for them to take your hand off, if you were silly enough to put in into their mouth. Apart from the crocs, you'll learn why the Black River has it's name - the water looks black but it's actually crystal clear it's due to the peat on the bottom. There are other wildlife to see, mainly birds. The mangroves are great to look at, and there are some ideal photo opportunities. The boats are comfortable, prices reasonable and you'll get a drink on board. Trips are about an our or so, and recommended for adults and children. There are some souvenirs to purchase if you like that kind of thing.

Mayfield Falls

by iriegal

One of the many places where nature is gorgeous in Jam. Walking in a river for about an hour, breezing, playing in the amazing spring waters, not hot, not cold , a delight for the body. Bubbling waters are like a spa. It ends by a short walk in the bush .Definitely worth it. Bring ur own water shoes as they charge 5 boxes/p to hire u some u'll have to give back when finished. The trip to Mayfield is somewhat aventurous because of the roads. Be sure ur taxi driver knows well the road as there are huges holes and if u go there during the rainy season u may not see anything while it's raining so u can get even more worried about how u will arrive in one piece. But that's also part of the fun. One should know that there is really few car crashes in Jamaica as even if some seem crazy when driving, most of the people are very couteous with each other. We should really get inspired of them...And...

Dunns River Falls

Beautiful freshwater falls leading to the sea. You can climb (with proper shoes) and it's nice and cold, nice shallow beach at bottom. Try to bring your own water shoes as the ones they rent to you are gross and really exspensive
