Willemstad offers excellent restaurants and bistros where it is very pleasant to spend some time. Imagine sitting out on a pleasant colorful street, the soft shining of the antique streetlights providing the early evening with a mellow glow. The narrow bay with its ever-rushing water gurgles past you while you take in the seaside sounds of the ferry and passing ships and boats. Singles and couples swirl around you providing a gentle murmuring background filled in by the occasional automobile passing by in the street.
That's what it is like along Handelskade street in Punda. Best known for its cartoon colored buildings, Handelskade street provides several nice sidewalk cafes where you can enjoy a refreshing drink or an entire meal.

Unfortunately, I was not in Curacao long enough to enjoy the treat of partaking from one of these quaint bistros.
Although I was not looking for them, while my wife and I were walking down Breedestraat towards Columbusstraat (both main streets in Punda) we stumbled upon a little shady sidewalk park area and there before us were the signs indicating the presence of a Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut fast food restaurant.
Deciding very quickly, we went in and got a little chicken snack. The place was fairly clean and the chicken tasted just like the KFC back home. The only problem I had was that I love biscuits with butter and after I ordered my biscuit they told me they did not have any butter. I didn't think to ask if they were just out of butter or never carried it.
But if you have a craving for some American fast food while you are in Curacao you can certainly find it.

The chicken snack was good.
there are not a lot of places to have local food in Willemstad,
but you can at the big eating market.
There's only one, so it's easy to find.

Fine restaurant on the Otrobanda side, overlooking the water and the Punda side. Good food and service. Somehow expensive but a great experience. Wooden chairs uncomfortable.
Nice ambience, good food, worth a visit. Wok nights twice a week. Oriental buffet every Tuesday for $16.
Favorite Dish:
Yakitori chicken and budha wok
This bakery was in the mall. The cheesecake, cookies, and ect all looked so good we had to buy some to take home with us.
We ate at Denny's on the last morning on the island. I was hungry for breakfast and we knew it would be fast.
There is a casino next door, handy for late night partiers.
The restaurant is situated in a shady courtyard next to the museum. They offer a good range of international dishes and good wines. The service is fast and friendly.
