by sandravdp Terrace restaurant at Willemstad prices are rather expensive, because most goods must be brought to the island by boat or plane... If you must go to a supermarket, take an ordinary one, never shop at 'Suikertuintje' very expensive and the cockey people there are rude to the locals!!
Fish with frenchfries and fruitbreakfast, yummy! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Mi Poron a restaurant specializing in local foods, but was closed all week this trip. It was still advertised but no explanation for closing. It was still closed in 2003, this appears to be a permanent closing. Mi Poron is open only for dinner and doesn't open until 6 pm. There is both indoor and outdoor dining areas. There is a museum in the front which shows some of the early settlers life style. The food is good and the prices are competitive.
The chicken special was breast meat with a sauce of prunes, black and green olives, pearl onions and raisins, covered with cheese. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: It is across the street from the largest church in town. Kaya Caracas 1Other Contact: Call before going 717-5199

This restaurant is located on a deck on the waterfront. The prices are competitive and the food was excellent. They also have a managers rum punch party with free rum punches and snacks on Monday night from 6 to 7, during which time, the 75 year old Captain Don, mingles with the guests
grilled fish of the day, and their potato soup with leeks. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Is part of Captain Don's HabitatOther Contact: 717-7303 jack@habitatdiveresorts

The speciality of most of the restaurants in Curazao is 'iguana', and loads of sandwich places... so here you can try 'Sandwich de Iguana'!! two in one! Actually there is nothing different to eat in Curazao from this, so you have to be open to new experiences, or keep on sandwiching! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: This place gives you a nice view of the river: including both the old and the new bridges.. and loads of tourist at the other shore...

by Chrystalain We went in this lovely restaurant and had a very nice but expensive dinner. While talking, we decided to get engaged. No ring. Just our word and our love. The day after, I asked Alain if he had changed his mind. He said no. We went back to the restaurant and took a picture of us at the table we were the evening before. We also took a picutre of the people who own this restaurant, French and Quebecers. Very nice people. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the restaurant’s name but I am searching for it. It is on the road from Mullet Beach to Cupecoy Beach. Since we had asked for the empty bottle of wine we drank (a nice rosé), we filled it of the Cupecoy Beach sand. It is still in my livingroom. That was our engagement ring. Leave a Comment

by sandravdp The terrace near Playa Lagun is quiet and has a nice view. You can see the view at the first big picture on this page. You can get nice tropical juices here and enjoy a sandwhich or some fruit :) Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by nnoah I don't have a specific restaurant in mind, but there are many fine dining establishments all over the island. A very helpful website is: http://www.sxm-restaurants.com/index.html on this site you will find listings for restaurants by name, cuisine and a handy map for finding the restaurant of your choice. (I've included a map of Philipsburg). Each restaurant has its own unique qualities.
You need to try the coconut shrimp, which is a carribean specialty: jumbo shrimp fried and rolled in shredded coconut. The drink of choice if you try no others is a St. Maarten specialty: the Guavaberry Colada. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Cheri's Café It's a bit of a tourist attraction but the restaurant has a great Caribbean atmosphere. It's set outdoors among the shops at Maho Bay. They usually have nightly music and dancing and the party stops later than most other places on the Dutch side (except the casinos). Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Maho Bay Area
