Although catering to many locals, this dinner-like restaurand serves Jamaican dishes (the patties are to die for) AND amercian food like hambergurs and great breakfast.

    Friendly owners and service.

    Everything is mouth watering good.

Favorite Dish: the patties of course...mmmm...salivating.

    Local food

    Illidgeroad

If you want delicious cheap local food at lunchtime just drive accross the island there are a lot of local foodstalls or little wooden houses where they sell the food.

Dont let the appereance of the food houses scare you ! Its all good food !!

But you have to look carefully to not miss them along side the road !

A nice one is when you drive from Phillipsburg to the airport just near the salt pound just before the roundabout on your left side there´s a white wooden bungalow stylish foodhouse. (Illidgeroad)

Also in Marigot next to the big parking area there are some little wooden coloured foodhouses located next to eachother !

But again come early !!! Before 13.00 p.m. or you´ll miss all the delicious local food.

    Johnny Cake

by eenelfje Written Jul 5, 2004

    Mullet Bay

Typical local snack is Johnny Cake !!

Its not really a cake, its a flat round fried kind of bread, very tasty, with or without cheese in it.

You should really try it when you´re there.

The nicest and tastiest Johnny Cakes are sold in a caravan in Marigot.
Just when you drive into Marigot on you´re right side on a sandy parking space is a caravan. There they sell the delicious Johnny Cake. For just USD 1 for one piece !!

    The Jerk: Delicious food

by eenelfje Written Jul 5, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Golf Course

The Jerk is absolutely delicious local creole food and not expensive at all !

When you order a meal, order "small" because small is very big and "big" is huge !

Located just behind backstreet (opposite the police station).

But be sure to come before 13.00 p.m. because if you come too late all the delicious food is already sold out.

The locals eat a warm meal at noon !

    Favorite Dish: Everything is delicious.

You just go to the counter in the back of the shop and order what you like. Then take your meal to a table.
At noon its always crowed with locals.

Just a few minutes walking from the airport building you have this tiny outdoor restaurant, with a big bar, a few tables by the water, and fantastic Indian food!! A great place to spend the hours waiting for your plane...

Great food, professional staff, classy decor. Surprised to find this caliber of restaurant on an island that's not Manhattan.

Do us all a favor and put some appropriate clothes on. You're on a vacation from work, not from decency.

I could sit here all day!

This is the scene you see after entering the small doorway of the restaurant. They also have live music to listen to while you eat and sample a Caribbean beer.
