Having been to the majority of Caribbean islands, I think I can safely say that St. Maarten has the best prices for almost any summer or beach wear your heart may desire. Also you will find designs here that you may not have seen elsewhere. The clothing shops may have set prices, but vendors on the street will be glad to bargain with you and you will find many nice items for less than $20 US. At the "Old Street" you will find shops and vendors and it is a nice area. You will feel free to browse and enjoy the local color.
Beachwear and summer clothing from dresses, pareos, 2-piece loungewear. Attractive beach bags or totes, beach towels, purses, etc.
Beach towels, bags, pareos for $10 or less. Better beachwear and other items from vendors can be $20 or less. "Old Street" is within walking distance of the ship piers.

One of the things that makes Phillipsburg and Sint Maarten so special is that everything on the island is completely duty free. The best place to do your shopping is on Front Street, which is right in the middle of downtown Phillipsburg. In some cases, you can expect to pay up to 50% less than large cities for your luxury items, so if this is on your itinerary, save some money specifically for your luxury item needs.
Jewelry, Perfume, Luxury Items, Native Art..... but most importantly, Guavaberry Liquor!!
Less than large european or american cities Leave a Comment

Frontstreet in Phillipsburg is great for shopping. Backstreet although (just behind Frontstreet where all the locals shop) is cheaper !
Definatelly buy a bottle of Guavaberry liquor ! The original local liquor. The Guavaberry shop is located in Front Street. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

this isnt a shop, its a little stall on the harbour where the cruise ships dock.
You are given a sample of the rum coctail, which slips down very nicely thank you ! If you do buy a bottle you are invited to take one of those cheesy photos you look back on in years to come and regret - but hey - you`r on holiday so who cares! The bottle [a smaller version of the photo ] will no doubt sit in the cocktail cabinet for years, or untill we have a party ! Leave a Comment Theme: Food and Drink

Absolut Vodka ltr $5.95, Bacardi $6.95, Baileys $11.95, Jack Daniels $14.95... I cant beleive at how cheap the liqor is in St.Maarten.. dirt dirt dirt cheap... I am keeping these bottles with the price tags on them... My friends saw them and even they cant believe how cheap it is.. theyre still shocked...wouldnt be surprised if they even move down there now... I also got some Cuban Cigars from the same place... guys I know my cigars... and take my word for it... try out a montecristo or cohiba from their humidor... I think they had the best well maintained cigars and deals I came across!!! The wife did some of her Jewelry shopping and got a Delft collectable for our neighbours who looked after our dog while we were away. And to make things even better Rick and Dk, & Anita were nice enough to offer us cold beer's the entire time we were in there...which was quite a long time.... Our box liqor and other shopping was delivered straight to our room in the ship no problem at all like they promised! Next time you go to st.maarten, make sure you stop in at Gift World, theyre next to the Del Sol store, and say hellp to Rick, Dk, & Anita... tell them kris from atlanta sent you... theyre a really nice family and know how to take care of their customers!
Make sure you buy liquor and cuban cigars in st.maarten! There is also tons of Jewelry, and Electronics
Absolut Vodka ltr $5.95, Bacardi $6.95, Baileys $11.95, Jack Daniels $14.95... According to them prices change every week.. $1 or $1 less... it all depends Theme: OtherDirections: Next to Del Sol, and about 100 metres from The Guavaberry Emporium

This was such a delight to see old Menneken Pis in the Carribean. As i miss Brussels, where i got to live for a while i am always happy to see something of it wherever i go.é Some Belgian must have moved to St MArtin and start his typical belgian chocolate business there. Was a great business choice, as the shop was crowded.
All sorts of chocolates, dark, milk, white... Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: philppsburgDirections: shopping arcade

Outdoor street markets on Back Street.
Local crafts, souvenirs, summerwear, beachwear.
As with most shops here, bargain for your best price but keep the haggling amicable. You'll find most items way under $20 US Leave a Comment Theme: Local Craft

This square in Philipsburg was packed with people and cars, so I had to get a postcard of the courthouse! There were a ton of shops... we went in a couple of jewelry shops and their prices were not any better than you can find in the States...
local souvenirs, not jewelry! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: in the middle of Philipsburg

The store acted like they were giving us this great deal on a Tag Heur watch. She said that she was giving us 5% off of the "carribean price". When we got home I saw that we could have bought it on the web for $100 less. Now if we bought it from an US instore-shop it would have probably been the same price. So it was not a deal from the US, but about the same.
Same as the states, unless you really know your jewelry prices. Leave a Comment Theme: JewelryDirections: Marigot, Phillipsburg.
