Restaurant at Hotel Alta Mar
The restaurant at Hotel Alta Mar has got a nice location with a view over the ocean below. I visited during the week and had lunch , dinner and breakfast here and it was all the time a quiet place with a few other guests (also staying at the hotel). There are two hammocks and a pool table too.
As Pochomil is situated by the sea there are fresh fish and shrimps on the menu and everything I ate tasted good.
Example of prices in July 2009:
Fish filet meal 180 cordobas
Shrimp cocktail 100 cordobas
American breakfast 75 cordobas
Coffee 15 cordobas
Beer 25 cordobas

Restaurante El Mirador
On the beach in Pochomil there are many simple restaurants with thatched roof and the beach as the floor. The restaurant just below Hotel Alta Mar where I was staying is Restaurante El Mirador. I had lunch there and this day in the middle of the week I was the only customer. At the restaurant next door I saw a group of five, otherwise it was empty at the restaurants this day. During weekends Pochomil gets more crowded.
I ordered a meal with shrimps and a coca-cola. Besides the shrimps there were plantains, rice and salad on the plate. Food and drink was 192 cordobas (July 2009) plus tip.
I had to wait long for my meal, but that was just good as it had to be cooked from scratch., and sitting by the table overlooking the sea was a good place to be in.
Around the restaurant there are some hammocks so after eating I had a rest in one of them, reading a good book. That was perfect!
La Rocca: Best Food in Town; Hands Down
Luke and Margarita are the perfect people to bring you a little of North America and Nicaragua in the menu selections here. There is no comparison in this small town. They simply have the best food which would be hard to beat even in a large city. Their small restaurant/bar is located directly behind Vista Mar Hotel. Tell the taxi this and you'll have no problem getting there. Love the atmosphere of an open air thatch roof, eating next to the pool.
Favorite Dish: Chicken Fajitas are amazing.
