This area has been completely restored and is the place of the old Masaya market. It is calmer and quieter but only tourists frequent this area which is much smaller and the prices are 10 times higher than in the more authentic Nuevo Mercado of Masaya where you can experience the real feel of the market at better prices and a great selection. The city of Granada is one of the oldest cities in the Americas, established in 1524. It is located 45 kilometers (28 miles) south of Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. Arriving in Granada feels like stepping back in time.
