    Picturesque People

by grandmaR Updated Jan 19, 2014

Local people want $1.00 every time you take their picture - or at least that was what we were told by the lecturer on the ship. I don't know whether anyone paid them, but I didn't pay anything.

The women wrap their arms and legs with beads and material - thin arms and legs are considered beautiful.

The sign in the first photo says

    "Welcome to our
    Island Carti Sugdup
    We hope you'll have a
    pleasure day here, and
    also we'll appreciate
    your Cooperation
    Our children will
    Thank's you
    God Bless You!"

    Native Boats

by grandmaR Updated Jan 19, 2014

We saw both dug-out canoes and sailing canoes when we visited the islands. Some of the canoes were paddled, but there were some with motors.
