Shopping in Bocas can be expensive as they only use the American dollar and a lot of tourism has inflated prices and made people very reticent to bargain, even with champion spanish speakers.
Common items to purchase are jewellery, bags, woven artesanery and hammocks. Vendors are in the streets and shops tend to be more expensive. Most of these items can be purchased in Cahuita or Puerto Viejo for less!
