My friend and I happened to be lucky enough to stay on the same property as the new location of El Pecado, and boy did we take advantage of this! The restaurant is owned by a couple, Stephane and Olga, who became fast friends of ours, as did the waiter, Felix. We stayed here for two weeks, so we did venture out for food often but agreed that nothing compared. It is a little pricey ($15-$30 USD with drinks) compared to what we expected in Bocas, but everything was. It has a reputation for great food, only in a new location. They used to be off the main strip and had only recently reopened in this new locale.
The food at El Pecado is amazing! Everything is homemade with recipes of Olga's. A few of our favs were the ceviche, chicken satay and the pizza. They actually own Pizza Libre also-which offers zas created and named after famous people in history who fought for freedom in various parts of the world. This gives you a little glimpse into the madness that is Stephane! Back to EP- the music, setting and atmosphere simply enhance the experience. All seating is outside under a cabana and there are approximately 7 tables. Several locals frequent the restaurant and are friends of the owners, and are incredibly friendly and open to newcomers. Stephane and Olga are a riot, and they might offer you their specialty drink if they find you worthy, think you can handle it and it is "ripe."
To get there- i'll do my best... there is a main strip where most restaurants, parks, hotels, hostels are located or to which they are closely situated. El Pecado is about a 10 minute walk and located on a property called Mar y Iguana. Yes, we laughed, too. And a warning- two friends told a cab driver they needed to go to Mar y Iguana, and they were literally taken to a house where they could buy pot. For real. So- walk down the main street or take a cab (50 cents) heading north(east); there is a dead end where there are jewelry stands on the right and a grocery on the left. go left. follow this around staying as close to the coast as possible most of the way. There really isn't any turn off of this road, but again- El Pecado is on the property of Mar y Iguana, as is the language school El Paraiso, across the street from a beach. i'll update this as soon as i get details, but the restaurant is so worth the walk!!

Favorite Dish: they have a very eclectic menu, but do all the food well. Olga has an interesting ethnic heritage that influences her food. my favorite was satay chicken, which some people might consider boring, but the sauce was perfect (to me). my friend loved the ceviche and she did a little taste test across the country. but we didn't have anything we didn't really like, even the dessert pizza. Obviously, because we ate there at least 5 times, including our last night with 4 friends we convinced to go. They were also very pleased.
