SURF: Las Lajas Beach is ideal for beginners as its shore is rock-free and the currents are not too strong. During the summer (December-April) the waves are smaller than in winter time(May-November).

KITESURF: the uncrowded shore and windy environment fits this sport well.

HORSEBACK RIDING: it is possible to rent a horse from local farmers.

FISHING: the nearby lagoons (the closest one only 2-3 km away from the main road) are ideal.

For the fearless only: a walk through a canal cut into the mangoves' roots (into the water up to the waist). For safety reasons this tour can be done during low tide only and with a local as a guide (no specific organized tours available).

Itinerary:

Crossing a pasture land (with free young bulls and high grass), walking along the mangrove canal, hiking up the hill after a short walk into the jungle.

A stop on the hill is highly recommended: outstanding view of the jungle, the whole beach (14 km wide, bordered by to sweet water lagoons), Isla Coiba and nearby minor islands (Islas Secas) and, on top of that, scattered around there are ancient and unknow hierogliphycs carved in soft volcanic rock.

Usually, due to the incoming high tide, it is not possible to go back from the same path. It's highly recommended to take the long way on the opposide side of the hill and, after crossing a little river and a pasture land, reconnect with the main road to the beach.
