Currently, there is bus service to Tonosi from Panama City, the main bus terminal at Albrook.
It is only three times a day, but saves one from having to change buses in Las Tablas. The bus from Panama City to Las Tablas is $8 and you have to then walk about a mile or take a cab to the other, local bus terminal to get the bus to Tonosi. Not all buses to Las Tablas are touring buses, some are coaster buses and have limited storage space for luggage and surf boards. The buses to Tonosi from Las Tablas are really minivans and are even more limited in storage area, so you may want to opt to take the bus to Tonosi from Panama City, even if you have to wait a while.
It costs $11 each way Panama City to Tonosi. Be advised these are coaster buses, not the big tour buses so they are not real comfy and have limited storage if you have a lot of luggage or surf boards. They may not take them if they don't have space and force you to ship them down.
Once in Tonosi, you can take the bus to Cambutal which will take you to Los Buzos, which runs a few times a day and costs $2 per person, each way. Or you can take a cab from Tonosi to Los Buzos for about $15.
To drive to Los Buzos Resort it takes about 6 hours (and when one gets below Las Tablas or Pedasí, the roads are not in good shape all the way to Tonosí! The road below Las Tablas to Tonosi is fine the first 18 miles then it is very rough into Tonosi, then it is in very good condition, again, to Los Buzos. If one goes through Pedasi, it is about the same, the road is very rough about half way to Canas until one reaches Tonosi.
If you don´t want to drive from Panama City to Los Buzos, Los Buzos offers charter air sevice from Panama City (Marcos Gelabert Airport - FKA - Albrook AFB). It takes about an hour and cost is about $250 per person, round trip. It may be less depending on if the charter takes passengers to Pedasí as well. Los Buzos will pick you up in Tonosí and bring you to the resort as there is no other transportation that regularly goes to Los Buzos.
The Los Buzos sign is actually in Cambutal, one has to travel another 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) to get to Los Buzos Resort!
Another option is that we have two businesses that will chaufer you here for $200-400, round trip, depending on what you have to bring, if you have surfboards or lots of fishing tackle, they charge more. They drop you off and pick you up on the day you leave.
One of our vendors, Deric, has this neat little boat to take on tours of the Tonosi River or Islas Canas or to fish those areas or just off shore in the Pacific near Bucaro.
Call us and we can make the arrangements for you to use his boat to sight see or fish.
