Gonzales Surf Camp y Restaurante is a small, fonda-type restaurant next to Los Buzos Resort. Nubia usually has sancocho (soup) and a meat dish and a fish dish every day. There is no set menu, just whatever they have on hand or got that day. Also, drink choices are limited. You can get Coca-Cola, Fresca, Ginger Ale or Cerveza Panama, and sometimes, fruit juice.
It is limited, but it is delicious and filling.
They also have a place to launch your boat on the beach and hammocks under the roof so you can hang out before or after surfing or boating.

Favorite Dish: They do the typical sancocho soup and arroz con pollo, as well as carne or puerco guisado and sometimes they have corvina or shrimp. Their meals typically are meat and fish with rice and a small salad for $1.50. They sell Coke, Fresca, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, sometimes they have Kist soda. They also have Cerveza Panama and Soberana.

A Few Things You REALLY Need to Bring Here!

Be sure to bring one of these!

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you have reef walkers, you need to bring them as at low tide the reef across from the resort is accessable on foot. You could use sandals but they may not fill the bill.
Also bring hiking boots if you want to hike the trails and bird watch, it is rugged and sandals may not be appropritate, plus there are many ground bugs that will eat up naked feet!

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bug repellant, you REALLY need this, we have some for sale at the resort, but if you need a specific type because of allergies or personal preference, make sure you bring it or you WILL be eaten alive by the bugs! Evenso, nothing seems to repel the "chitras" little gnats that bite everywhere, they are a "noseeum", so you can't see them trying to bite you like mosquitoes and can swat them.
We recommend getting Autan lotion or spray repellant. It is in a yellow and red container. We sell the lotion for $4, but you can buy it anywhere in Panama for about $3. We also sell Off! in a pump spray bottle for $8, as well, but it is not as effective as Autan.
Also recommend bringing Benadryl for bug bites to releave itching and antibiotic cream, like Neosporin. They sell Benadryl cream in Tonosi for about $2 for a 1/2 oz tube. Also they sell antibiotic cream for about $5 for a 1/4 oz tube.

Photo Equipment: Bring your cameras! Recommend waterproof as you will probably be doing water activities.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: If you have surfing equipment, of course bring that! We do have some boards of various sizes and types for rent, but if you have your own and can afford to bring them, please do. If you have snorkeling or SCUBA gear, please bring those. We have no dive equipment here as yet. But we have some snorkeling gear.
