This is the place!

Open-sided bar with two big screens and a juke box. I could sit on the balcony of my apartment which was across the street, when I lived there, and watch their TVs. On special occasions they have a DJ and disco, so I didn't sleep those nights, which was almost every weekend! Big reason why I moved out of that apartment was lack of sleep Friday and Saturday night! I'm not a party animal, so I didn't just go and join them. The Royal Gin is across from Lorena Isabel at the corner of Belisaro Porras and Calle Estudiante.

The bars in Panama don’t have any set, regulated hours, the aforementioned seem to open about 10-11 in the morning and close whenever. If it is slow or raining, they may close as early as ten p.m. On paydays (the 15th and 30th), they are jumping till 4 a.m. or so. They don’t seem to regulate the noise level, either, so beware if you buy or rent a home or apartment in Panama close to an open-sided bar or cantina, it may get loud.

Complaining doesn't seem to do any good. The Health Department will monitor them and tell them to turn the volume down if they think they are too loud. But they never seem to get around to doing the monitoring. If you go to the Corregidor (Ombudsman) he may talk to them, and maybe fine them, but they won't change what they do, it's a cost of doing business, besides the corregidor is probably related to the owner, anyway.

Dress Code: Wear some kind of clothing and footwear.

Local Casino: There is something to do in Las Tablas!

Cash Casino Las Tablas

The Casino has recently changed hands, new sign has not been put up yet, but it's open for business! It is at Calle Ramon Mora and Calle 12 de Octubre. Just turn left at the Banco National de Panama as you are headed to the center of town (Carretera National 2 aka, Ave Carlos Lopez) and go one block and turn right and you are there! Not much to it, just some slots and a bar. Panamanians love to gamble, the day before and day of the lottery days (Wednesdays and Sundays), you see the lottery ticket sellers lined up outside the supermarkets trying to get people to buy their tickets!

Dress Code: I would wear a shirt and at least sandals or the security guard may not let you in!

Las Tablas is a quaint town and has much to offer, despite it's small size and being in a third-world country. But the area is growing and economy expanding locally, for the good, I hope. I hope that...
