The Embera Wounaan Comarca is a stones throw from Sambu or Boca de Sabalo its alternate name. In fact the Rio Sabalo seperates Sambu from the Puerto Indio, a small town located in the comarca.
The comarca or region is controlled by the Embera and Wounaan. Think of an Indian reservation in the United States. So entering the Embera Wounaan Comarca, Area 2, means getting permission, even giving up your passport. But crossing over to Puerto Indio from Sambu is a matter of crossing a footbridge over the Rio Sabalo.
