On my island is Kuna Yala, the men were fishing all day in their dug-out canoes. Our sailing gang was either snorkeling nearby or doing hard time trying to tie MY hamac to two palm trees. Auntie Kuna had to intervene with that last one, the guys just had no idea... Usually, we gathered around the long, shaded table on the beach and drank coconut water while talking excitedly of what WE saw that surely no one else had found! We also spent lots of time climbing trees with monkeys on our backs, or trying to look like natives, especially when someone took out a camera.I was intrigued to see the cousins Rodilio and Gil in the background, walking back and forth from their canoe to the beach. I walked over and asked them in perfect Kuna language, with hand signals and eyes a'poppin, why they were laughing so much.
