El Treviche: Mashed potatoes!

by megwehrle

Great local charm atmosphere. The food was great and reasonably priced. Two meals came out at around US$15. The waiter was nice and we had a very pleasant experiance. It's a good place to try out local dishes, and not be afraid of whats in them. Tourist friendly but not fake or tacky. I had the shredded beef dish with mashed potatoes. Those were some great mashed potatoes. Actually, the whole thing was good.

Manolo Caracol cocina con amor: enjoy with your friends

by Fantasmine

Manolo Caracol cooks with love:I liked very much the ambience, the decoration, the service, it was OK. It was very interesting because they did not ask what you want, they bring you the food..., and a lot of different dishes, but we liked them all.

Cafe Om: Authentic Indian food in Bocas Town

by kyrtimigan

Intimate and hip Indian Restaurant with an eclectic and delicious menu. We started dinner with the "Chaat Papri" appetizer, which I thought of as Indian nachos. Toasted flatbread wich chickpeas, potatoes, and onions in a mildly spicy sauce with a yogurt drizzle. For the main course I had the "Pescado Tikka Masala" which was a flavorful, spicy fish dinner served with rice. That night they had Lamb (a rare treat in the islands) so my wife had the Lamb Curry with rice. For desert we each had "Kulfi". A creamy Indian ice cream made with cardomum and rose water. Do not miss out on the opportunity to dine here when in Bocas Town. Cafe Om also serves breakfast which we found to be as wonderful and flavorful as our dinner there.

Los Lagartos at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort: Bring lots of money...

by bpwarne

The food was excellent and the atmosphere great. You are perched out over the Chagres River with expansive views of it and of passing ships in the canal. Service was very good. This restaurant is pricey by Panama standards, but that is not surprising, being within the Gamboa Rainforest Resort.

The Surfin Lobster: Encourage local fishermen

by alza

On my island is Kuna Yala, the men were fishing all day in their dug-out canoes. Our sailing gang was either snorkeling nearby or doing hard time trying to tie MY hamac to two palm trees. Auntie Kuna had to intervene with that last one, the guys just had no idea... Usually, we gathered around the long, shaded table on the beach and drank coconut water while talking excitedly of what WE saw that surely no one else had found! We also spent lots of time climbing trees with monkeys on our backs, or trying to look like natives, especially when someone took out a camera.I was intrigued to see the cousins Rodilio and Gil in the background, walking back and forth from their canoe to the beach. I walked over and asked them in perfect Kuna language, with hand signals and eyes a'poppin, why they were laughing so much. They proudly showed me The cage, full of spiny lobsters, right at my feet in the...

La Posta: Tropical Classic

by navyisland

A real secret, hidden away from the noise it is in a house from the last century. Homemade bread and pasta, crabs flown from San Blas Islands. Really the prettiest restaurant in Panama. Ceiling fans and potted palms. As a a frequent traveler to this city I was thriilled when this place opened. It is a see and be seen place for Panama's elite (on one night I saw two ex-presidents and former Miss Universe). Local paper gave it three stars and and excellent review. Mero from the wood burning oven, fresh tender and smothered in onions. Pasta, homemade wild mushroom ravioli.Camerones en Hamaca, cheese and shrimps on a fried plantain. Double cut roaste pork chop with candied shallots. Tender and juicey.Apple tarte tatin, buttery caramel with Ice cream.

Las Tinajas: Try the Yucca

by marcmalano

Typical Panamanian atmosphere and traditional dishes, with folkloric shows several nights a week. Yucca is like a potato. The name might sound like Yucky, but it is quite good. The Panama Rolls are also very tasty.
