You`ll have to climb 500+ steps from the parking area, but if you`re on crutches, they`ll drive you up. (thanks Carlos). At the top, you`ll find this visitor center, complete with scientific explanations of what goes on here. They also show a `day in the life` movie, in Spanish on the hour, in English on the half hour.
After 30 minutes of winding roads after passing the town of Arecibo, this is the first view.It seems surreal, I`m looking around for James Bond or Doctor Evil to appear. (portions of `Goldfinger` were filmed here)
Now you`ve read about it inside the visitor center, it's time to open the door to see the parabolic dish in person!
The only way to get there is to drive. Saw this on the way.....yummy Plantainos!
