The city of Arecibo, the largest municipality of Puerto Rico, was founded in 1616 by Don Felipe Beaumont y Navarra. Although historical documents by Don Cayetano Coll y Toste have stated that there was a Indian settlement on this location as earlier as 1511. Maiking Arecibo the oldest continous habitated town in Puerto Rico. The city's nickname La Villa del Capitan Correa derives from a victorious battle between a local military, Don Antonio de los Reyes Correa, against an English conquering mission on 1702.

Population of 93,385 with an area of 330 Km2. Driving distance to San Juan about 45 miinutes. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the North, Utuado and Lares to the South, Barceloneta and Florida to the East and Hatillo to the West. Patron Saint - San Filipe Apostol and the Paton Saint festivals are in full swing for a full week during the month of May. Other places of interest are The famous Arecibo Observatory, Indio Cave, Morillo Beach, Las Tunas beach and much more.
