There are many food stalls/vendors around Luquillo Beach selling different kinds of food, from seafood to various meats, pinchos/barbecue, and other delectable delights. Don't miss it when visiting the area!
Favorite Dish: Fresh seafood, pinchos (meat skewered in sticks), and other treats!
Just off of PR-3 facing Luquillo beach is a row of kiosks with all sorts of food. At number 12 is El Jefe's. This is a laid back little burger shack founded by renegade gourmet chefs. The place sort of stands out because its sign is in good repair. Needless to say, two highly educated chefs have given the burger and its trimmings its own spin, though there are things on the menu that are very standard fare. In some cases they use Caribbean style ingredients and sometimes not. Case in point was their chicken wings (Puerto Rican chicken tends to have more flavor than mainland chicken for some reason) where you can get the standard Buffalo sauce or a Caribbean BBQ, which is a variation on jerk seasoning. Service is slow, but this is typical for Puerto Rico and there is a bar to keep you company while you wait.
Favorite Dish: El jefe is known for its three signature stuffed burgers. Each is stuffed with either Spanish style chorizo, beef short rib meat (the one I had) or a green chili and jalapeno blend. Those three orders are a bit more expensive, but everything else on the menu is quite reasonable and competitive. The food is well cooked and the service is friendly and English-speaking.
