Visit the small museum of the Tainos
The Fatima Sisters in Indiera Alta in Maricao built a small cemented Taino hut to put all the relics they could find in the area to preserve the culture of the Tainos. It's not much to see but it's a start.

In the old days, the Tainos, the original inhabitants of Puerto Rico, lived in small houses and their leaders lived in a little bit bigger huts. Of course, nowadays, nobody lives in these kind of houses in Puerto Rico. I took these pictures at the community center where the Taino houses were constructed. It's part of the museum at the community center.
The sisters (nuns) of Fatima who put up a community center in Indiera started a festival called the "Indiera Festival". It is held for three days. Most of the residents come here for dancing, singing, presentation of their culture, etc.The Fatima Sisters usually open the community center's little museum, too.
