    The Atlantic Bar (part of the Atlantic Beach Hotel) is a bar, cafe, club, cabaret and all-around funspot all in one. You can't beat the views (looking out and in) and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. You probably will meet just as many tourists as locals (sometimes more tourists than locals!).

    Sunday nights are great with drag shows and other live music and cabaret acts. Even if your Spanish is weak, you'll still have a great time.

    Anything goes!

    Candela Bar is a great place for lounging to some trendy music, like house and jazz. A famous drink from Candela Bar is called "Papa Jac". It has a somewhat secret recipe and a special cup to drink it in, for $7 you get a potent, but tasty drink in a specially designed cup that is yours for good. It has the story behind the drink. It's popular during the Festival de San Sebastian. You can also get Papa Jac at Don Pablo's on Calle del Cristo during the weekend evenings.

    You can get Long Islands 2 for $8. They have live bands, a pool table, and a small area where you can dance. The cool thing about this place is that you don't have to get dressed up, you can wear jeans! I went on a Friday night and the band was good. That night the band was basically playing popular rock music in English (example: No Doubt). I heard that sometimes the bands play Spanish rock, it depends. I didn't see any tourists here.

    Jeans are fine! Call ahead if you're worried about a dress code.

    1. ISLA VERDE LOCATION
    This place is a restaurant that turns into a bar/club later. They have a live band every night of the week (rock, hip hop, R&B, and more) starting around 11 pm.

    Fridays and Sundays they have karaoke from 8 - 11 pm.

    The Isla Verde location opens every day at 11:00 am and closes when the party is over. They have plasma tvs and a big screen where you can watch all games (MLB Pass, NBA).

    This is a small bar at the end of Calle del Cristo, off Calle San Sebastian. They have great frozen drinks with Don Q rum. The local thing to do is get "La Nota". This is an funny expression for someone being very drunk, especially after the Festival de San Sebastian. "La Nota", the drink, is very potent, so I don't recommend ordering for yourself....maybe an unsuspecting friend.

    Anything goes, I do recommend actually wearing clothes though

    On Wednesday nights 6-9 pm Ladies can get margaritas for 10 cents each. There will be a pretty long line, but it's worth it. However, it's not a very happening party. So bring your own crowd. Call ahead to make sure they are doing this every Wednesday, because it could just be a summer promotion.

    No dress code.

    Pool Palace was a unique place right in Old San Juan. It's located in the same complex as Senor Frog's, but has a different atmosphere. I went there with my friends that live in Puerto Rico. It was more a local hot spot. There were rows and rows of pool tables located in between a few bars. At around 11, the large dancefloor opened up and everyone busted a move. It was a great time, with multiple bars. If you don't feel like dancing, hustle somebody in a game of pool.

    We started out eating dinner here at 8 pm on a Tuesday. The live band and MC entertainment started at 9:30 pm. This place got so packed! Don't worry if you are claustrophobic because they open extra rooms and if you need more space you can move to the edges, away from the band/dancefloor. There is a mixture of tourists and locals here. The only downfall is that the drinks are expensive. My drink was good, called "Ticket to Fly" and it was $6. If you eat at the restaurant there's no cover charge. We also went on a Friday night and the cover charge was $7. By the way, on a Saturday night the entrance line gets very long. If you play your cards right, you can convince the bouncers to let you bypass the line and get in free. What I did was walk up to the bouncer and say "is this the line to get in" or maybe I said "how long does the line take". I'm also a girl, so of course I blinked my eyelashes and smiled. He asked to see my hotel room card (to prove I was from out of town) and then he let me and my friends in for free without waiting in line. I was able to do this twice, so it does work. It also helps if you are dressed nice and look different than the others.

    I don't think there's a dress code because I saw one guy wearing shorts.
