Mosquito Net and Mosquito Repellant

by joiwatani

My daughter and I brought our own mosquito net and mosquito repellant because we travelled in the jungles of Puerto Rico. I don't think you needed a mosquito net if you just visit San Juan or the neighboring cities. But, if you travel to Maricao and head to the jungles, mosquito net is a must! Make sure to pack light clothes because the weather of Puerto Rico is hot and humid! Also, pack some slippers. We brought our own toiletries since we know we are heading to the jungles of Puerto Rico. We brought our own soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, lotion, mosquito repellant, Advil tablets, dramamine for motion sickness, medicines for diarrhea, and towels. I brought two battery charges, extra SIMS cards, one professional camera and one Sony cybershoot camera. I also brought my zoom lense. I also brought a plastic bag to cover my camera bag to protect it from the rain. Sleeping bags...

Comfortable Walking shoes

by joiwatani

When you have a camera bag, make sure to cover your camera with a plastic bag. It rains a lot in Puerto Rico! Comfortable shoes are important. Make sure to wear them when you go to El Morro. T I would say, make sure to bring your own toilet paper. Take some from your hotel and pack some in your backpack. It's really important to have this just in case you needed to use the bathroom later. Most public bathrooms don't have toilet papers. Always bring extra chips for your camera and extra battery.

Puerto Rico Packing List

I found that everything I needed at any point was readily available in PR.Bring a beach bag that can be wrecked, the sand and water can take a toll on your stuff. Sandals for the beach, lots of flip flops.Bring running shoes if you plan on trecking in El Yunque and something a little warmer.Bring one pair of dress shoes and a fancier outfit in case you go to a club with a dress code or one of the casinos. Everything is pretty much available there. Underwater cameras, film and batteries are more expensive. Buy them at home, you'll save a lot of money. Flip FlopsRunning shoesLighweight clothesBeach gear (bathing suits and sarongs)Beach Bag, Mini Cooler (can be bought there)Sunscreen, Aloe VeraOne warm thing in case you decide to hit El Yunque Phone Card (a lot of american/canadian cell phones don't work there)IDImportant Papers, you need proof of citizenship to leave Puerto Rico.

Hate carrying stuff? Get a daypack

by cruisingaroundflorid

A daypack (lighter than a backpack) that folds and packs into your luggage. Holds everything you need for a sightseeing tour, beach or snorkling trip, shopping trips into town- just pack what you are going to need for the day and go. Get one with zippers and a cable combo-lock for security.

Travel Supply List

Sandles area a must in Puerto Rico. The weather is too warm for sneakers. Unless you can planning to do alot of walking. Puerto Rico has good toiletries and medical facilities. Digital Camera and/or a video camera must Puerto Rico is loaded with thousands of places to take great places. In the summer season it's best to wear sunscreen even if you are not going to the beach. There are many places in Puerto Rico that don't have trees and the sun there shows no mercy.Water is a must while walking around.

Make sure to bring a beach bag so you don't have to lug around your beach accessories by hand. Of course bring a bathing suit & suntan lotion. Bring or buy an umbrella, because it rains a lot in Puerto Rico. One minute it is sunny and the next it is raining. You can buy most everything you need if you are staying in San Juan, but if you are in the country, you might need to bring the necessities from home or drive a distance to purchase them. If you can, pack small gifts that you might be able to share with locals, room service, etc that have been nice to you. Because of the poverty in Puerto Rico, many people are very thankful for this kind of gesture.

Pack light! A back pack will do. Women: For some reason I feel compelled to wear dresses in Puerto Rico. Maybe it's because they're so much cooler than pants & shorts. Bring at least a couple of casual dresses or sarongs. Sunglasses & sandals are a must. Sunblock, eardrops & sinus medicine.
