Roasted Pig: Delicious Piggie

by staindesign

All sorts of Pork can be found in Puerto Rico. They love it! Pork, plantains, and rice are probably the 3 major food groups! Anyway, driving around you can find folks selling roast pork on the sides of the road. It is delicious! I recommend trying it, street food can be a concern for some people. But I can promise you won't be sorry! **Ps. It is cheap too. A piece of roast pork and rice will cost you only about $5!**

Al Dente: Italian Restaurant in Old San Juan

by joiwatani

This restaurant is probably the oldest Italian restaurant in Puerto Rico serving the local residents and tourists, celebrities and heads of states. It is very famous to the upper class residents as it is a little bit on the pricy side. This restaurant has a nice presentation and creative but authentic Italian food.It has an excellent wine bar with over 140 selections of wines. There is also a patio seating.Casual dress codes. This is a highly recommended restaurant by the Old San Juan Areas and Urban Guides. The restaurant has daily specials and open on Mondays-Thursdays 11:30 am -10:30 m.Friday and Saturday schedule is from 11:30 am to 11 pm.

Caficultura: Caficultura

by joiwatani

This restaurant located in a beautiful building on San Francisco Street in Old San Juan serves the best coffee (of course, the Puerto Rican coffee is the best!). It has a great ambience and the staff are friendly. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and at night it converts in to a "tapas bar". The restaurant uses local and fresh agricultural products.

Cafe Princesa: Cafe Princesa

by joiwatani

Ajili mojili: Taste the "real" Puerto Rico

by Radiomom

Ajili-Mojili -- this place is also popular with locals and tourists. Dress is resort casual, but no shorts or t-shirts. It has a lovely dining room, and great service. They serve true Puerto Rican cuisine in an atmosphere of "Tropical Elegance." the chefs use plenty of seasonings like garlic, cilantro, tamarindo, rum, wine....mmmmmm! Pumpkin Fritters (appetizer)The pumpkin soup is also wonderful.Entree: Beef braised in Barrilito Rum orlittle cornish hens with guava sauce.

Barrachina: Awesome food in Isla Verde

by ffpulley77

This place was awesome!!! I had the lobster and steak and all I can say is WOW. They had a great selection of spirits also. They say it's where the pina colada was invented and my wife seems to think it was the best one she's ever had. I on the other hand drink vodka and they had my favorite, which is Belvedere and also had my close second which is Finlandia. So I was happy too. Lobster and Steak

Miramarket: Great sandwiches and happy hour

by joemacdonald

We were attending a convention in San Juan at the Puerto Rico Convention Center and two minutes away on Fernandez Juncos Avenue we found this lovely place. The Miramarket is a convenience store with a lot of local and gourmet products, bar and Deli. The food was delicious and the service was really good. I had a Boars Head Roast Beef Sandwich, which was delicious, and my wife ate a nice plate of Stewed Beef (Guisada) with rice and beans with a great flavor. We met a group of nice Miramar residents and ended up drinking Medallas in the outdoor terrace with our new friends. It was a great time! Boar's Head sandwiches, breakfast and rice and beans. Everything we tasted was fresh and very nicely seasoned.

Roadside Stand: Don't Be Afraid

by grandmaR

While there are lots of restaurants and even US chains available, don't be afraid to try a local roadside stand. Cheese taco and a milk shake was $6.00. The milk shade was made with ice and milk, and not ice cream
