 | San Juan Flights and Airline Tips | 1 - 10 of 10 | | Airplane is the best choice. Luis Marin Airport is the hub to the caribbean and all flights going to any of the other islands usually fly into this airport. All the major cities in the US have flights to Puerto Rico. Cruiseships to the southern caribbean leave out of Puerto Rico. Car is the best way of getting around most of the island. If you don't plan to venture out of the metropolitian area, then you can take a cab or even the bus. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

I flew with American Airlines from JFK to San Juan. I paid $237 including taxes, it would be $5 cheaper if I bought them online but it didn't seem to work out so I had to call the office instead. On my way from JFK to SJU, the plane was delayed for about 30 minutes but it was like 3 hours for SJU to JFK. The flight took about 3 hours and 50 minutes. I would suggest trying to fly to San Juan or leave during the day time once to be able to see Puerto Rico from a bird's eyes view. It's really cool. I would say AA is definitely one of the cheapest airlines to fly to San Juan. You can also try www.jetblue.com but you need to book way in advance to get $79 for each way but adding $19.60 for taxes, it doesn't really make any difference from AA anyway. Leave a Comment

by boat or by plane, airport is fine and the security process is quite efficient and fast. by car, ($50/day) if you wish to discover beautiful beaches. by ferry ($2-$20) or by plane ($35-135.00) to visit some beautiful islands (the best one are the small one, not too crowded, wild and so beautiful)... the roads are like in USA, they seem quite safe, But try not to stay alone, and do not let your car without survey during a long time in the country or on the beach (take some basic precautions). This must be the most confusing airport I have ever seen. You exit into the check-in area, then you have to exit and get down to ground level to catch a taxi. There is a booth with a couple of girls; you tell them where you go, and they give you a ticket. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

February 3 to 10 2002 As Hans and I wanted to celebrate our 30 th anniversary with a Cruise, we made arrangements with Hans' brother and his wife who live in Florida to take a cruise together. We decided on going with Royal Caribbean. The stops included San Juan Puerto Rico, Philipsburg St. Martin, Charlotte Amalie St. Thomas Virgin Islands and Nassau Bahamas. We departed from Fort Lauderdale Florida on the ship ENCHANTMENT OF THE SEAS and our first stop was in San Juan Puerto Rico.We arrived Tuesday February 5 at 3:00 p.m. and we were to depart at 9:30 p.m. so that gave us plenty of time to explore the Historic town of San Juan. No sooner than we were off the ship, we came across many mini buses parked along the street. They were offering to take us to Fort Cristobal for the reasonable fee of $5.00 US each. As it was quite a hike there from the dock area we went for it. The driver did give us a little tour of San Juan and let us off in front of the Fort. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

$0.25 a ride to practically anywhere in San Juan and Viejo San Juan. Goes out as far as Plaza las Américas, Bayamón and Condado. Very convenient, air conditioned for tropical climate comfort. More reliable than driving into Viejo San Juan as parking is an utter nightmare. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Tren Urbano, the new rail transportation system for metropolitan San Juan, will start revenue service by the end of Feb. 2005. Right now, they are introducing the system to the citizens with free rides on weekends and other special days. So far, Stage one (Red)from Bayamon (west of San Juan) to Sagrado Corazon station is the only one developed. It seems that the next line to be built will be Carolina to Rio Piedras (green). So far, the airport and other areas frequented by tourists are not covered but as you can see, there are plans to eventually cover Condado, Isla Verde and the edge of old San Juan Leave a Comment Theme: Subway/Metro
