In General Vieques is a great hideaway island. It has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, most of them extremely secluded and desserted. Is a great place for honeymooners, family with children, and leisure travelers. Don't expect any fancy stores, or much less a mall. But do expect ver friendly people, cute little stores, lots of great places to eat, excellent fishing, scuba diving and kayaking. Vieques is also the perfect spot for biking, and jogging. My best reccomendation for anyone visiting vieques an absolutely must is to RENT a JEEP....Publicos or 'Taxis' are available but wont get you to far. If you want to visit the secluded beaches you will need a car, final point. So call Steve's Car Rental at 787-741-8135, cell 787-593-9618 and book one.
Fondest memory: It takes a while to get used to the island. The weather is more humid than in Puerto Rico, and it can get very hot sometimes. At the beggining you won't have a minimal idea were to go or eat or how to get to the beaches but with a good map and some help of the local which are called 'viequenses' you will be wandering the island like a pro.

Fondest memory: It takes a while to get used to the island. The weather is more humid than in Puerto Rico so you tend to perspirate more, and it can get very hot sometimes but after 2 days you don't even noticed it. Fondest memory: THE PEOPLE OF VIEQUES, THE FRESH SEAFOOD, THE TRANQUILITY OF THE OCEAN
Favorite thing: There are two main towns on Vieques - Esperanza and Isabel II. This photo was taken from the Esperanza Boardwalk out towards the harbor. Of the two towns, Esperanza is more laid back, with a number of low-key restaurants that are great for breakfast, lunch or drinks. These same restaurants/bars are the best place to sit back, order a drink, and watch the sun go down.
