St Lucia is a stunning country with fantastic scenery and a wonderfully laid back vibe - nothing happens in a rush, just go with the flow.
Castries is a busy city and apart from day to day living for the locals and duty free shops for the tourists it's probably not the most exciting place to visit - but the speedboat trip to it was great stopping off at Marigot Bay and also for a view of the Pitons.
Botanical Gardens
I love visiting botanical gardens and although this one is quite small there are very many beautiful plants to see and a waterfall. You'll get a talk about the many types of fruit and vegetables grown on the island and the history surrounding them.
Debbie's in Laborie
For eating out Debbie's (Auntie Debbies as it's known locally) on the main highway at Laborie village is worth a visit. We went for my birthday and had a fabulous meal - with a bottle of champagne thrown in to help celebrate!
Debbie has worked around the world and is now based back home in St Lucia. Her restaurant is more or less open air, surrounded by plants and styled with a homey, rustic charm. Go with an appetite as the side dishes alone will fill you up and you'll find the cost extremely reasonable.
