Ship BBQ: Party ashore
The ship restaurant cooks and crew take a BBQ ashore and serve it there. I've never done that. Mostly I have just eaten on the ship. When the weather is too rough to tender ashore, they do the BBQ around the Lido pool. I think this is really easier for the crew because they don't have to schlep all the stuff ashore. Although one of the pictures shows why they had one BBQ around the pool as it was so rough that the pool water was sloshing out.
You can also buy food and drinks in the patio area.
Best Barbecue: Great Outdoor Cookout
Half Moon Cay is located on 2,400-acre Little San Salvador Island, Bahamas. The island, purchased by Holland America Line in January 1997, is less than 100 miles southeast of Nassau between southern Eleuthera and Cat Island. Half Moon Cay is built on 45 acres along a crescent-shaped white sand beach more than a mile in length that fronts on a protected bay leading west to Exuma Sound.
Favorite Dish: No Restaurants there!! They have an AWESOME Cook Out Buffet Bar, with Meat, fruit, and lots of salads and deserts.

Food Pavilion: the BBq and the chickens
The Food Pavilion is the only eating option on the island. Basically it’s a buffet BBQ facility where cruise chefs, after having transferred the food to the island, cook a barbecue for you… this barbecue is not exactly what the name suggests – as you really only have a choice of burgers, hotdogs or chicken legs. There are 15 open-air dining pavilions where you can then have your lunch.
Favorite Dish: Everything was just about edible, which I did not mind, actually. It saved me from the temptation of lingering at the table and wasting precious beach time. All the time we were surrounded by friendly (live) chickens... Were I to go back, I'd do like many people did: fill a plate and bring it to the beach.
