Favorite thing: There are two quite reasonable markets in Freeport. We've been to the Winn Dixie. There are also hardware stores which have reasonable stocks.
Fondest memory: A Bahamian lady on her way to work (in the other supermarket) saw me struggling along after my husband (he was way ahead), and she stopped him and chastised him for not waiting for me. Then she tried to help us find a place to eat that wasn't a fast food place. (Without any luck - all we could find was Burger King and KFC. I gave up and ate at KFC).

Favorite thing: Grand Bahama, do a Booze cruise1 or a wine and cheese sunset cruise,Go to Churchill or Fortune Beach for a long walk,Go to Billy Joles beach shack on Port Lucaya beach-west of Our Lucaya and try a fresh conch salad or a burger!Get out to Margaritiville-or club Cariabe for a bond fire,beach volley ball,or to relax and slurp up a few cool ones!Get to The Lucayan National park &Barbary beach for the day,Get to Paradise cove to learn how to snorkel,Go to Pier 1 to see the sharks fed some night!

Local show for the cruise ships docked in Lucaya Harbor once they hit the ground to shop. The banging of the drums would be enough to even wake up the passenger sleeping in on the ship. It is so loud...

I was here for a week for work, and the weather didn't really help too much. It was a great time for work, although the play was limited due to the relatively cold weather.

Freeport City is not a tourist destination. The harbor is for big tankers and transport ships - not for pleasure boats. Most tourists go to Lucaya. Lucaya is a different destination on Grand Bahama...
