Lucaya-Jovaninis Cafe, Grand Bahama Island

This is a tiny restaurant in the Lucaya marketplace, so either make reservations or go really early. It is small and informal, but has really good food that is not expensive. The first time we were there, 6 couples were celebrating something, and the table stretched almost the full width of the restaurant. They wanted pictures taken of the whole group, so I did that (4 cameras).

Note: Sometimes this is spelled with a G instead of a J.

Favorite Dish: We both had the seafood spaghetti - shrimp, fish and lobster. It was very good. Then we had peach melba for dessert. Our meal (drinking iced tea) cost us $35.54.

What a pleasant find in Lucaya. Our last visit in 2004 we discovered Giovanni's. Not only was the food very good (not gourmet) and satisfying but the friendliness of the staff really made it a fun place to go for my family of 4. Genny, the owner greeted us with a warm smile and made sure that we were happy with everything. Our kids 7 and 12 devoured their spaghetti and meatballs and the adults did the same to veal and shrimp dishes. We went back two days later and there she was again...my new friend Genny who remembered what we had two nights earlier. She thanked us for coming back and gave us complimentary salads and a pitcher of soda............If you have kids this is the place to take them. Go enjoy!!!!!!!!!
