    Unexso Dolphin Experience

by olgaehr Written Oct 31, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is something you must do when you are in Carribean Waters.

This is one of those things you probably will do just once. It's expensive, time consuming but fun and worth the money spent.

Plus the money you spend goes towards the well being of the animals (well, depending on what institution it is, so pick the one that cares)

    Port Lucaya Marketplace

by olgaehr Written Oct 31, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Located right across the street from Westin Hotel. It's a great place to get your Bahamas shopping done, get some food.

Tip: There was this stand with a big lady mixing Daquiries with fresh fruits and juice. She had a 2 for 1 deal. And omg they were SO good. I bet she put something addictive in it, because my husband and I kept going back there multiple times during the day.

Steak & lobster dinner & Bahama Mama booze cruise

by tpangelinan Written Jan 15, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We booked this which is a first for us, not to bad, the steak & lobster was ok, Bahama Mama's were very strong, couldn't drink them so I bought beers for 2 dollars. After dinner they ask every one to come down to the lower deck where the entertainment begins which is dancing, drinking then a linbo contest which this one dec hand was really good at. All in all it was pretty fun and lasted about 3 1/2 hours. Dinner was a nice quiet run through the inter coastal waters, then when dinner was done we went out off the coast for a little while, there was a full moon out and a nice clear night. We are not real drinkers so if you are this will be a blast. All the deckhands get people up dancing and having fun.

This was our sunset the night of our wedding!

by tpangelinan Updated Jan 12, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This was the sunset we were blessed with the night of our wedding just after we got done. Before the wedding started it looked like it was going to rain as a big black cloud rolled in from the ocean. We prayed that it would hold off at least until we were done and it cleared up in five minutes and it turned out to be a perfect sky after all. Just thought I'd share that little moment.

I got up almost every morning to catch a sunrise and it was well worth it! Time is limited to about 20 to 30 minutes of good color so have those batteries ready. Then back off to bed! I didn't say you had to stay up, just get up and catch one! :o)

    Shopping in Lucaya Marketplace

by TheAxleys Updated Jul 18, 2006

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This neat marketplace is not open long (until 5) but it is really neat to go to in the daytime. Very culturistc and makes you feel like you are in a different country (almost like in India or Africa). The shop tenants are a little pushy to get you to come in their shops, so have an excuse ready if you don't want to shop there. If you have a question don't just go up to them and ask questions, ask them how their day is and such. They will push you very hard to buy something from them, but be stern and barginwith them. They WILL bargin. If you go in the afternoon, they are tired and sell easily. Most restaraunts are closed until 5 and are open until 2am. Definately buy shirts and stuff from the market place, they are the exact same as everywhere else and are much cheaper (by at least $5 WITHOUT bargining). Overall, this is the best place to shop, eat, and bar hop.

Kayak Nature Tour w/ Snorkeling Adventure (TOUR 2)

by TheAxleys Updated Jul 18, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We got picked up at our hotel and had to make some other pits stops along the way to pick up other folks for our trip. Chad, our tour guide, was awesome. He loves the Bahamas and has strong feelings about his country and is absolutely hilarious! We made it to our drop off point and we unloaded the kayaks and we were on our way to Peterson Cay (pronounced "key"). After we made it there we snorkeled all around the Cay and it was beautiful. Much better than spending money on scuba diving (not to mention having to pay to get certified)! Chad explained everything, (even though much of our group were at least novices). After about on hour and a half of snorkeling, Chad brought out the dinner table and we had a delicous lunch of ham and turkey sandwiches with all the trimmings, and headed back to the van on the 30 min kayak trip back to the "main land." If you go try to get CHAD and you will need to take socks or fin boots because the fins run slight small. Also, you will need any personal items such as sun screen, a towel, etc. They provide equipment and lunch (which is good). Oh yea, the hermit crabs on the island our awesome - it was a great commune with nature!!

  • The Beach!

You can't visit Grand Bahama without stopping at one of the island's beautiful beaches. The sand is great, the water is clean and comfortable, and it is extremely relaxing.

I visited Our Lucaya Beach outside the Sheraton resort.

    Paradise to Snorkle!

You can get there through organized bus from a hotel, it's pretty cheap. Lunch and cost of equipment is included. And you can snorkel all you want all day.

Lucaya Things to Do

grandmaR's Profile Photo

Lucaya has a beach, sunset cruises and a nearby underwater park. Next time I go, one of the places I'd like to visit is one of the Bahamas National Parks - this one is near Lucaya
