West End Travel Guide

 Arubasun. Says:  Old Bahama Bay is the only resort in West End. It was opened 2 years ago, in the hopes of boosting the prosperity of the impovirished town. Old Bahama Bay is 150 acre exclusive resort, marina and residential community. I have spoken to an employee of the resort and she said... 

 1 Review  The only game in town unless they open the hamburger bar on the beach. Very nice restaurant overlooking the marina with linen napkins. Very expensive - one of the most expensive meals we had on our trip. Cost $59.00 including tip for two of us, drinking water and iced tea and ordering cheaper things... 

 Arubasun. Says:  There is no clubs or nightlife in West End. There is however a bar called 'Get Chicken' they billiard tables there and you can have some drinks while socializing with the natives. Mind you it is just an ordinary bar.Menging with natives and enjoying their typicall meals. 

 grandmaR Says:  I was told a taxi from West End to Freeport would run about $30.00 You can get a jitney bus, and that only costs $10.00, but the buses only run about four times a day. 

 grandmaR Says:  After we ate dinner at the Dockside Grille, we went into the small shop that adjoined it. I was looked for a CD with the song "If you Can't Find Your Friends In Nassau, They're In Freeport Or They're In Jail". There were some CDs there, even some Bahamian type songs, but not... 

 grandmaR Says:  The entrance to the Old Bahama Bay marina is not like it is on the charts. It used to be that to get into the old Jack Tar marina, you had to go around the end, passing a commerical entrance. Now the old entrance is blocked off, and you come in the commercial entrance and... 

 grandmaR Says:  While we were here, we were waiting on the weather to get back to the states - it was too cold and too windy to be really good for snorkeling. But the Old Bahama Bay folks gave us this map which seemed to indicate that there were snorkeling trails which could be accessed...
