Customs, The Bahamas

Having long blond hair I probably got more notice from the locals who will offer to braid your hair, but this is quite common. Though I did not have it done, I did see some tourists with their hair braided and they do a good job. I am unsure of how much they charge, since they are clearly looking for tourists who have extra money to spend.

Don't offend the natives by dressing immodestly. The Bahamians are a very modest people, unlike many peoples fantasies that every one lives in the nude on tropical islands. This applies more for women then men, but don' walk around in your swimsuit when in the presence of natives especially the older ones. They find it offensive.

This was the nice thing about Nasau you could still really feel and see the culture. Through the buildings and the people, still there was definately tourists traps. They do try to sell you herb when you get there. Its probably safer to bring your own. Can I say that?

Tourism is their number one form of income, you will find that when you stop somehwere to site see, if someone shows you around a place, expect to pay them at least a few dollars. They will ask!
The flowers are very beautiful, but some are poisonous.
