If you are looking for local crafts in Nassau, go to the Straw Market.
What to buy: There is variety of items to buy. Many of the stands have the same items. Look for what suits your fancy. Before you consider buying.
What to pay: Don't pay what is quoted. Always negotiate for the final price. If you don't get the price you are asking, go on to the next shop, you are sure to find what you want there and chances are you'll get it cheaper.
Island Tings Ltd.: Made in the Bahamas
I really loved the things at this shop which were all made locally in the Bahamas, and many of which were not too expensive.
What to buy: Conch shell jewelry - ranged from $5.95 to $13.95
Small prints by Bahamian artists of local scenery - from $23-$25
Stuffed toys (I got an octapus and a sea horse for my granddaughters) about $20
Post cards - 55 cents each.

various stalls: Straw Market
Bustling market on the sea front, reputedly the wrold's largest straw market. Needless to say, purchases are not restricted to simply straw goods - you buy virtually all your tourist requirements here. But straw is the big attraction - and you can watch the craftsmen at work.
Atlantis: Atlantis Shops
The Hotel Atlantis has many shops inside of it, but only go to these if money is of no concern or need in your life. They are great names with even greater prices.
