Paradise Island Transportation

We found that walking around the Atlantis Marina to be quite easy. There were planty of maps posted to get us where we needed to go. As we wandered through the resort grounds looking for particular exhibits we got lost. Too many twist and turns plus we were distracted by some rays. We picked up a map and continued our journey without getting lost again.

Once you are on Atlantis property it is a nice walk through some beautiful grounds, shops, restaurants, lounges, beaches, pools, exhibits and of course the casinos.

Because Liz didn't feel well on the ride over and it was a bit of a walk back to the landing point we decided to just get in a shared taxi heading back to the piers. Everyone had told us ahead of time that this trip should be $6 each and that is all it should be. So we got in along with four or five others and each paid our $6 upon arrival.

Was nice to see a different way by taking a real taxi instead of the water taxi both ways and I recommend highly how we did it.

The water taxi was a fun and interesting way to travel. Of course there was an "unpaid tour guide" who was to be tipped and Liz was nearly sick. But for me it was a nice ride and I took many pics along the way.

I doubt I'll ever be able to get on another one with her with me but I found it cheap and easy to use. It was $3 each way per person.

Tickets can be purchased at Festival Place in Nassau.

Be careful that you ride in a registered taxi. In addition, make sure you negociate the fare BEFORE you ride; this will avoid potenial arguments and conflicts later. Taxi fares can be very expensive, especially during the high season. During Spring Break, cab drivers were charging $20 per person for a one-way ride to their hotel after a night out clubbing! The fares also vary with gender -- they usually charge more for guys. Usually there are several cabs waiting outside the popular clubs; make sure to "shop around" for the best price before agreeing to a fare.

From the airport, go to the outside terminal area after you've gotten your luggage, and make a left. Go all the way down to the end, and pick up a bus with Majestic tours. They'll bring you to Atlantis.

Taxis to Paradise Island will take you across the bridge from Nassau. They shouldn't cost more than $5 per person. Rides are about 5-10 minutes depending on Bay Street traffic.

If coming by cruise ship to Nassau, you can get a taxi at the taxi stand outside the wharf. When going back to Nassau, you can easily get a taxi outside the Atlantis.

A ferry to Paradise Island leaves every half hour between 9pm and 6pm daily from the area near Prince George Wharf off Woodes Rogers Walk. Rides cost $3 each way and take about 10-15 minutes. You will get dropped off underneath the bridge to Paradise Island - a short walk from the Atlantis.

A little warning - the operators of the boat will ask for tips before letting you off.

Its pretty easy to catch a cab from the Nassau Airport to Paradise Island about $20. Don't forget the tip!!
