Also getting into downtown become an issue as there are no ferry boats into town. You need to get a cab, where fares are negotiable based on how you look /dressed. Whts...

    You can't go to Grand Bahama without somebody trying to sell you tickets to the Bahama Mama Booze Cruise. You get all the Bahama Mamas you can drink and hors d'oevres too.     Freeport - I have been here. Port Lucaya is the main place to be as I remember. There is nightlife/etc. You should check on the area and see what happened b/c of the hurricanes/etc. I would look at Tripadvisor.com or VirtualTourist.com for some rec's for hotels. Everything.

    New Year is Bahamian Mardi Gras and there are parades and music that start about 5:00 AM New Years Day. We partied until Midnight and then got some sleep so we could be at the parade site by 06:00 AM. There was almost no place left to watch from! It was packed and the parade was wonderful.
